<< We all saw Yakko's diarrhea of the keyboard display in Anandtech news. He even inspired some others to emulate him there. But no, there's nothing wrong with neffing. We should all post anything and everything we feel like. We should bump every thread to the top all of the time. Everyone should have 50 or more daily postcounts. That will really make this a great board. >>

hmmm did you read every post yakko made in that forum? i did, and he made a comment about the story every time. valid responses if you ask me.

you claim to hate it so much, yet you come up with no valid points or reasons. avoid the questions and the subject with sarcasm. works for me.

With the amount of times you've complained about this in other threads already, you basically are one of us...

Tell me why you approve of neffs so much.

They add nothing to the discussion.

They disrupt the flow of threads.

They used to be banned, why aren't they now? Have neffs taken over the mods?

Why is it that neffs used to be banned and now they are not?

No, I like OT, it's about the only forum I visit nowadays. I've been a regular in most of the others at one time or another but now I just like to discuss topics of interest.

Nope, it's about finding every thread infected with the same people that post nonsense just to up their post count. That is neffing and used to be a bannable offense. If it in not bannable any more I might just be tempted to join all of you just to see what fun it might be. Why not, right? Anyone can do anything they want anymore is what you are saying.

i have already explained what they add. read through one of my other posts.

disrupt the flow of threads? how do you figure? how can the thread continue to flow if it is on page 15?

what did they do to get banned? i think having a forum with over 90,000 people registered, you are going to have a hard time weeding out the 25+ active members that are nothing but nefs (and that number is very generous). So you nef once, and that is it. you are done. banned. even if you have helped out so many different people so many different times, you nef once and you are banned.

Like i said, the ones that do it cronically get weeded out eventually. i'm sure it is pretty hard to keep up for most mods when there are so few, and so many issues that they have to take care of. maybe drop the mod a PM when someone is neffing in a thread. so they can take notice? you seem to want it stop so much, are you doing anything to stop or help stop it?

You nef ? are you feeling ok today ?

No, not really feeling that great. I've been working straight since last September with only about 4 days of vacation. The equipment I got in last week was programmed incorrectly by the factory. The CO detector is noisy. I have a gas chromatograph that is giving me a hell of a time getting the IC5 and 3MB1 to separate correctly. .... I won't go on, the list is too long except to say when I can take a break and read the forums I am damn tired of seeing Neffing in every thread.

It used to be a bannable offense and still should be.

Which of the following suggestions should be implemented to reduce the clutter of the neffs?

1) Remove the list of top posters from the today board.

2) Remove the postcount from the member?s id.
There would need to be a way for the people in the For Sale forum to verify good traders. While longevity on the board does not guarantee a good trade it seems to be one of the methods used.

3) Remove the Lifer, Diamond etc. member titles.

4) Forum announcement that future neffing will result in banning or vacations and than follow through with it.

If you don't think they should be imposed, tell us all why not.

While extreme, I cant disagree with etech on this one. Neffing is worthless. However there must be a better reason. I think losing the post counts would be a good idea, but the 'Joined' field would have to remain to give some idea of a poster's legitimacy in the Trade forums.

impose them. i just have no idea where you are getting this "clutter of nefs" from. they are here and there, but by no means do i see a clutter of them.

what does neffing hurt? are you just worried about the bandwidth?

There was a thread in Forum Issues regarding this, but either I've gone blind or the thread's vanished.

what i mean by wrong forum is that it was in Forum Issues and wasn't a forum issue. but i don't understand why they wouldn't have moved it to OT.

Imo, it was appropriate for the forum it was in, but, lol, the point is moot now. The thead vanished either way. :p

Ok, let's take them one at a time.

1) Remove the list of top posters from the today board.
Is there any reason not to remove the list of top posters in the today board? Can anyone not live without knowing who has made the most posts on this board?

Does anyone else think that the neffs are driven by a desire to see their name in lights on that list?

Could one of the mods also be one of the nefs and that is why the thread in Forums issues disapeared?

Not really all that awake yet, for a moment I thought Yakko had posted a picture of his diarrhea lying on his keyboard....:Q:disgust::eek:

Anyway, excessive neffing is/should be at least punishable by suspension, in the worst cases maybe even banning. But the mods aren't always paying that much attention, sometimes they're too busy searching for dog porn ads ;)

I'm going to try this again, perhaps the day crowd can explain discuss this without acting like idiot nefs.

The question is. Should the list of top posters be removed from the today board. Yes or no and WHY?
secondary topic. Do you have any better suggestions on how to remove the nef infestation from this board or do you even care what it is doing to this board and WHY.
