Crab dribble is just another variation of the hop step except instead of coming down on two feet Lebron came down "two-three". In the NBA, if you come down with both feet at the same time, it counts as one step. He just didn't do it right and it wasn't as bad as the blantant violation committed in the playoffs last year.

Usually, when you do a hop step you spin your body inward. In the crab dribble you spin outward exposing your back to the defender - almost shielding your body from him.

The worse traveling violations come from DWade. His spin move is such BS. He takes an extra step with his pivot foot before the spin everytime. That's how he's able to cover like 5 feet with his spin. YTube link Another YTube Link

yes properly done it is legal
no it is not easy to tell when your own legs land on the floor if you are moving fast enough...

In other words:

"Lebron tried doing his crab dribble on Caron and failed miserably so he ended up getting called for a travel. Oh here's me being a condescending douchebag about it, too."

its funny, being a little older/wiser in the lebron and d-wade era and seeing all the ridiculous calls they get/dont get has made me question whether Jordan was really good as i remember. Did my childish fawning over him blind me? I do remember a lot of complaints from Utah fans during the Bulls-Jazz finals bouts...

He wasn't. I don't know how good you thought he was, but he wasn't that good.

This. It was meant to be hop step but instead of landing w/ both feet, he took two more steps to the basket ...

Jordan had a famous push off move that almost always left him open for last second shots.... completely illegal, but he had it down.

When Lebron came into the league he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. Now he just seems like a spoiled, egotistical baby.

So he fits in with the other players just fine. ;)

Sorry but his ego was already inflated in HS. he had a H2, or should I say his mother had a NEW H2, that he drove all the time. Let alone all the other "goodies" he, I mean mother, got.

True. I based my statement on interviews and quotes over the years.

But he could have just been acting humble when he first came in the league. Now he has his endorsement deals locked up and is the most sought after FA in 2010 so he's just being himself.

uh Lebron is still one of the most underspoken within the league... he has a great head on his shoulders and is not an idiot by any means.

Publicly flirting with NY while still signed to play in Cleveland for 2 seasons sure makes him sound like a stand up and responsible gent to me.

Heh... i believe he used it before his famous "last" shot to finish off the Jazz in the finals in '9X (6? 8?). I remember watching it (tv of course) and loving the moment at the time, but looking back on it... hmm.

I didn't say it affected the team. I said it makes him look like a "spoiled, egotistical baby."

^ I'm not a basketball fan in the least... the Caps (hockey) are winners right now but their basketball team is bad. I didn't know how bad... I just checked and their record is 7-25. Did Lebron's team just lose to 7-25 basement-dwellers?! Wow.

Remember when Lebron supported the Yankees in that CLE/NY postseason matchup???

My bet is that he's going to Brooklyn to be with his mancruch - Jigga

He can call it a fucken crab dribble, grizzly bear dribble, weasel dribble, mongoose dribble, kangaroo dribble, or whatever the fuck he wants to but when he follows it with three to four steps to the basket, it's traveling.

Actually, he could have it on the Cavs, if they hadn't surrounded him by crap. He needs to quite trying to do everything by himself and realize that he truly has to trust his team. If some of these "All Stars" would take paycuts so that the teams can bring in another top level talent or roleplayer, then their chances would go up significantly. Very few people seem to truly care about winning championships anymore, and more about their paydays.
