Like the title says, I'm wondering if I can unlock the extra quad on this card. I have a Connect3D bios ready to go but it's for a card with 256MB of ram so I'm a little hesitant to try it. Anyone have any experience with this card?

You probably won't be able to.

Only Connect3d x800GTOs and Sapphire x800GTO2s are the unlockers if I remember correctly.

That's all I've been reading about too. The only reason I thought it might work is because in Wizzard's guide here, he says that moddable cards have the right fuse code indicated by the red letters in the ATI Tool box. Mine has the right configuration there but I only have a 128MB card which I haven't seen any results for yet.

I don't know of any 128mb cards unlocking but it might be possible. Try posting your fuses at that same site. Lots of cards that were thought to be un-moddable are turning out to be moddable after-all (excluding mine :( lol, though with this OC I'm not complaining).
edit: are you considering buying it or have you already done so?

I already bought it. I just needed a cheap card for my office rig (which will of course need to be stress-tested every once in a awhile, hence the curiosity about unlocking). If it doesn't unlock I won't be too disappointed but it would be cool if it did.

I'm wondering if the amount of memory is crucial to the bios working or if that factor would even come into play at all. Would the worst case scenario be that the card simply doesn't unlock or do I run the possibilty of ruining the card?

I would not flash the 128 mb card with a bios for a 256mb card - it sounds like asking for trouble. However, if you can find a modded 16 pipe bios for a 128mb gto, or even edit a 16 pipe bios to only use 128mb, then you have a good chance of unlocking it since the fuse data matches.

i had the MSI version of this same card, i know for a fact it will not HARD mod, but it might be able to softmod with a bios flash. its a r423 core though if im not mistaken which is the x800 pro core (12 pipes) so u still might be outta luck. Mine used DDR1 RAM tho instead of DDR2 and I STILL got 450/900 OC easily from 400/700 on stock fan. even lokced its gonna be a pretty decent card that will waaaay outperfrom anything else in its price range (aka 6600gt)
