Hey guys I have been trying to use some old parts of mine to build a small home server. I have a machspeed p4m800 mobo that I think is fried. I have tried 2 cpus one that I know is good and it will not boot with it installed. (Proper cpus for the board) I checked and can not find any bad caps. If anyone has any ideas what else to check on the motherboard I am open to suggestion. I have tried alternate ram, different psu, with onboard video and with a seperate agp card. I can not for the life of me get the board to post. If i unplug the cpu 12v it will spin up the hard drives and cpu coolerfan but that is it.
So anyways, my question is; I have a intel d845ebg2 socket 478 motherboard that does not officially support the celeron d 340 processor I have. I am debating trying to run this chip in this board. The intel site states it can run celeron processesors up to 400mhz fsb to 2.6ghz i believe. It supports 533fsb P4 cpus. The d 340 is a 533fsb celeron.
If I try this will it fry the board/cpu?
