With Chipotle burritos, I've always just unwrapped the foil enough to get it out, put it in the microwave to cook it, then put it back in the foil to take back to my desk and eat.
Keeps the heat in that way, too.
WOW, I can't believe I didn't think of that. I also can't believe I'm a network guy and I missed something so simple. *sigh*
Considering the fact that I didn't consider removing the foil, cooking, and re-applying the foil, I'm going to go with Maybe. Which doesn't answer either question, really. :-/
You won't blow it up in a few seconds. I've done some crazy things with microwaves for minutes on end, then made popcorn, and heated up the coffee the next morning.
(EDIT: Mind you, I had a fire extinguisher nearby for my extended experiments; never had to use it though.)
I use my own microwave to destroy CD-Rs before I throw them away, too, and I've never had a problem.
I put the whole mess into the microwave and set it to one minute. After about 5 seconds it started shooting sparks everywhere. That was actually pretty interesting, so I let it go on for a few more seconds before I hit stop.
I unwrapped it per dderidex instructions and nuked it. That worked. And it is mmmmm good.

This girl at work tossed her lunch into the microwave, leaves it in for a minute, it finishes nuking, and she takes it out. At that point, I say "Did you just pull that out?" "Yes" "Right now?" "Yessss..." "So you left the foil on...?" "Ummm.... yeah...."

Then again, the microwave's super cheezy and probably couldnt' come up with the energy to make the foil spark. Her food was fine and cooked properly. Never saw anything like it. It was regular aluminum cooking foil too, like stuff you'd wrap a sandwhich in (mmmmmmm Veal in tomato sauce + cheeze on a bun mmmmmmm)

My roommate lit my microwave on fire by nuking a wrapped Del Taco burrito. She ran like hell. I had to put out the flames and kick her ass.
Nah. The microwave still worked after that. Of course, we may all be infertile. None of us have had kids yet. We're all trying to avoid that anyways.

The great thing about Chipotle burritos is their chipotle seasononing they use on the meats. YUMMY!
I usually go with one of two options:
Steak Fajita Burrito w/ cheese and hot salsa
Carnitas Burrito w/ cheese and hot salsa
And that's it - why would you want to ruin the taste of the seasoning?! It's *INCREDIBLE*!!
(Gotta say, Chipotle nachos are freaking AWESOME, too. With hot salsa, naturally. That stuff is sweet - it's hot, but it's also REALLY flavorful.)
yea, chipotle totally rocks. I eat there at least once a week, if not two or three times. The one I just had was hella good, too.

On a related note, try this out. Microwafe any empty Chip back, like the one you get in a vending machine, for like 7 seconds. It will shrink it to a mini version about half the size of a baseball card and you can still read it and it looks the same, but it is like the honey i shrunk the kids version. I have a collection!
Hehehe...I did that once with a Capri Sun. It was frozen, so I thought, "Hey, I'll put it in the microwave". Yeah, that shiny stuff on the package, that's foil. It sparked once, then left a hole in the package. It was pretty cool, but I was babysitting at the time, so it probably wasn't the best thing to do.
