Can I keep a TV on the roof in a garbage bag?

Here is the scoop, we want to sit on our roof this summer and watch TV while playing cards. Rather than haul the TV up and down from the roof everytime, I was wondering if I could triple bag it in some garbage bags and then leave it up there. Would it be safe from the elements?

You might be a redneck...

Seriously, though, how do you plan on getting it up there in the first place? How do you get onto your roof? I'm imagining ways to get my Wega up a ladder, it just doesn't sound smart (or safe).

If you're white, that's a very white trash thing to do.

I can just imagine my neighbors with torn up garbage bags with rabbit ears sticking out on top of the house.

I'm a college kid and we are renting a flat, we want to set up an old 19" TV and run cable TV up to it. We made a ladder to get up to the roof, but it would be too dangerous to always haul the damn thing up there and bring it back down.

Careful with the garbage bags. You could get condensation inside them when the sun shines on them.

Yea, just some 2x4s and nails. Real ladders are expensive as hell... with the money we saved we bought beer ;)

If you made a ladder, surely you can make a weatherproof TV container =P

I would put something to reduce the amount of condensation... don't ask me where it - just a suggestion.

Let me clarify, I dont want to watch TV in the garbage bags, I just want to store it in garbage bags. We already have some tables and chairs up there that we can put it on. It just needs to be up there for storage purposes.

Only thing I was worried about is moisture, but if I triple bag the TV, it shouldnt be a problem.

Life's gotta be pretty dull for this to be that funny.

Seriously, the guy asked for suggestions. I think an outdoor tv container would be pretty sweet. For roofs, porches, whatever.

You'll still get condensation inside the bags. They need to be able to breathe.

How could I prevent condensation then?

Would it work to keep the TV in a large, sealed plastic bin with a few silica packets inside the bin?

Hopefully you saved all the silica gel from computer upgrades, laptops, shoes, leather luggage, electronics, cigar humidors, etc that you bought for the past few years..

EDIT: KingNothing, damn you to hell.

You might need more than a few sillica... maybe cork?... or would that mold?

Just hang out at the mall in front of dept stores and bug all the people who bought jackets.

is cork very absorbant?

Could I just goto a shoe store and raid all the silica packets out of the shoe boxes?
