Its a lot cheaper to steal them out of shoe boxes :p

And to all of you people who think its white trash to sit on a roof, is it white trash that I will be enjoying our 70 degree evening tonite by typing my essay on the roof while surfing on our wireless internet? Somehow I think not.

You can buy silica crystals in a tub at craft stores (they're used to dry out flowers)

[edit]
y'all posted too fast for me... that seems WAY expensive to me, my GF paid ~$10 for a pound or two.

You can buy silica type material in lots of stores, but looks for closet drying products. You can buy the refills in bags of a couple of pounds for a few bucks.

Another potential problem is if it gets extremely hot, if you bag it in black plastic bag it could melt. My teacher had this happen to them. They were painting their house and covered ecerything in black plastic to protect ti from the pain, and uknowingly they left a stereo boombox type thing out on the deck and it melted. This was in Pasco, WA easter part, very hot.

Condensation is probably the least of your worries. If you block the vents on the tv with the bags, it will probably overheat and die in short order.

What dont you guys understand about what I said that I wont be watchin TV in the bag. I will be taking it out of the bag to watch it. We have a table that we could put it under with the bag around it, which would hopefully keep it shaded....

:Q You made a ladder??!?!?!:Q

LOL thats the same thing that ran through my mind when i read that :p

why not build something out of plywood, you can get a fat sheet for not that much.....then line the inside of your plywood box with garbage bags, and put a hinged door on it.....sheesh, if you made a ladder that you trust enough to go up on a roof with.......you surely can pull something like this off

That's a good idea.

Just don't be gung-ho on being watertight. You just need to keep the direct weather off it. Also try and keep it out of the direct sun.

That cable line running back into the house would probably be one nice lightning rod.

No, you don't seem to understand... it doesn't matter if you are going to watch it in the bad. If it is in the bag for longer than a couple of hours at a time, it's either going to over heat or die from condensation. Get a outdoor TV (very expensive for that size) or your tv is going to die within a couple of months. Your choice...

There's no condensation happening if water never gets into the bag.
There will be no problems having the TV on your roof. I had a neighbor that did it.
