Can anything be done to this picture?

Here is a picture of my grandfather (on the right) and his family in the 30s/40s. I always thought he looked like a goodfella/wiseguy in this picture.

Is there anything that can be quickly done to this picture to increase the quality?

Why? It has that historic feeling from how it is.

You could probably photoshop it and even out the background... that might be it though.

Here's one with the yellow removed, but without the sharpening.
sometimes sharpening makes it grainy

Your grandfather is definitely the least imposing of the three

I tried to balance both the color and exposure of the image to bring out the detail:

It would be better if you had a higher resolution scan of the picture - I could try removing most of the remaining damage to the picture and then play with the graininess a bit.

Well, he is a brilliant petroleum chemist. I always thought the same thing as you when looking at the picture.
