The bar oil shouldn't come out in flood amounts...just enough to keep the chain lubricated.
Odds are, when you took it apart to clean it...you didn't get it put back together right...and/or either didn't get the chain on the drive sprocket right, or just didn't get it tightened up right.
Consider this part of the learning curve. At least, no one lost a hand in the process.
It came out fine for a minute and then did not come out at all, it started smoking. I agree with you on the putting it back together part, although my brother did that. I have NO idea how the engine revved all the way up by itself, scared the shit out of me. Pretty sure there were projectiles.
Oh well, I hope they don't give me a hard time with it. It was awesome for the first minute or two it was working for!
