Camera purchase

I think you might be better off going with a canon sx260 if IQ is your primary concern.

It does cost ~200 pounds, with the sx240 costing ~170

another option is the panasonic tz series (ie tz18; aka zs18?)

sadly those options seem to be more expensive in the UK.

a samsung wb150f review
http://www.cnet.com.au/samsung-wb150f-339334440.htm
The primary reason for the wb150f is sharing. If you're buying it because your parents want to share pictures on facebook/twitter/etc without bringing a laptop, then this would be easy for them. The camera supports wifi and supposedly can send pics without needing a computer, which is a big plus.
If you're buying it so they can take reasonably good pictures while travelling, it doesn't have a good burst mode and is poor past 200 ISO, greatly reducing its uses in low light (anything indoors/shadowed) and action (lots of missed shots; the camera takes longer to turn on [1.8s vs 1.2s for the canon]).

As the price drops, often you get a camera that has some really useful features but is missing others. The two biggest features on the Samsung look to be the zoom and the wireless capability.

If you give us a better idea of what features you think your parents want, we can give suggestions that won't break the bank.

most parents like mine, just basic point and shoot... its like trying to teach an old dog new tricks.. just can't do it.. basic point and shoot is the easiest
