<< It's not about being PC, it's about respect >>

Respect?? Oh, c'mon, man! What a copout that is! Respect who? Bin Laden? The Taliban? Terrorists in general? Each and every "term of endearment" that is being tossed around here is specifically directed at those responsible for terrorism, and those supporting them. I see NO reason to make nicey with these animals.
Your knee jerk reactions toward political correctness are exactly what our enemies are counting on.
Look, a few posts back in this thread, some fool posted a link to a thread I started earlier today, whereby I labeled Usama Bin Laden a beloved patriot. As if that is wrong? Well, if it is, I don't wanna be right, and I stand by it.

It keeps going over your head. Respect for the members of this forum who are of Arab/Middle Eastern decent.

so the term 'towelie' is too much? I mean, I know it's a little insulting, but it's not that bad, and it really makes me grin (it's all south park's fault too). I'm really not racist like that, but I still find humor in that phrase at this time, and IF I have offended anyone who happens to wear a peice of cloth on their head, then I am sorry. I'm laughing, but I'm sorry.

This post has been very politically incorrect. Please send all feedback to dontcarewh@tyouthink.com

No, it's not going over my head. I don't know one decent Arab American who supports the Taliban or the terrorists. I don't hear them whining about the offensiveness of a particular term or two when referring to the terrorists. What I DO hear is the whimper of White guilt rearing its embarrassing head.

too bad i'm not white. like i said, there's no good reason, it's not like you're using shorter words, they're actually longer than just saying "arab", or equal to just saying "terrorist", or "taliban".

comrade, beloved patriot and beloved patriot are not terms that describe members of the Taliban or Bin Laden. They are established general derogatory terms for Arabs and/or muslims. By calling Bin Laden a comrade, you are lumping him in with his whole ethnic group and implying that the group is somehow inferior.

If you want to insult Bin Laden, do it on a more personal level. Talk about his penchant for raping boys or something...

You are so totally wrong. I am not at all PC and I do not feel guilty about anything. I was just raised to be respectful other peoples feelings.

I didn't read this entire thread but I'm hoping that the mods have enough sense to immediately ban any and all people who use offensive racial slurs.

<< Is it possible that many have become so delicate and so sensitive that an anonymous post by a complete stranger is enough to send you scurrying to the holier than thou soapbox? The better to show us how "evolved" you are, I gather. Please, pat yourself on the back privately. Your public display is thinly veiled. >>

It has nothing to do with being sensitive or delicate. In fact, I would have to say the path you normally go down in your recent posts shows a complete lack of strength. Are YOU so delicate and sensitive that you feel the childish need to lash out at *all* people who might look like your enemy? Or is it that you're so "un-evolved" (IQ < room temperature) that you must lump all people together because you're not capable of thinking of people as individuals - only as part of a group?

Exactly. Nobody is saying be nice to bin laden, but these terms are generally derogatory to arabs. As I previously mentioned whenever we see a very nasty black person we still don't call him a great person, because its disrespectful to other blacks. I'm sure that the people here who think its ok to use towel-head never use the word great person with such freedom. Why?

I'm afraid to do that, too. Some dope here will get on his soap box and begin whining about making derogatory comments about pedophiles.

actually i'm arab and i find it very offensive.

EDIT: unfortunately there are too many ignorant people here (of course, the rest of you outweigh them, i'm talking about the racist fools) to bother commenting about all the racist crap going on.. its just a forum right? however, all this crap is offensive and pathetic, and i'd give a swift kick to all of you who think its not. (or dont care that it is)

Man you really still don't get it. Nobody will defend pedophiles. Nobody is defending bin laden. Since you're basing your comments of towel-head on bin laden's appearance and he highly resembles millions of other people it instantly throws them into the same degraded mix. This is the point of racist comments, don't you understand that?

I would think that term alone is pretty derogatory, but if you find something even worse, please share it with us.

Not to offend anyone here, just a question.. But what decent is Anand?

<And now to offend>
And give me a F'n break, white guilt. I HAVE NOTHING TO BE GUILTY OF. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A SLAVE. guess what, neither did my parents, grandparents, etc... Why cant americans be Americans? I have never claimed to be a Dutch-Swedish-English-American. I thought war was supposed to unite.

Your posts show you make no distinction between specific individuals/groups of terrorists and the rest of the Arab world. They do, however, show that you're an idiot.

Whats the PC term for Rednecks? I don't think they really have one. Except really-dumb-usually-from-the-south-type-people-who-still-hate-blacks-etc. You can't just say Southern Americans because that makes it sound like everyone in the south is a redneck which isn't true plus there is a few in the north and souther americans also sounds like south americans. Boy, that one is confusing. ;)

Whew! After reading that post, the question is what's the term for missed-grammar-and-puncuation-classes-everyday? Oh, yeah, it's moron.
