Why are people using these terms with impunity on AT right now? Do you all realize how racist it is? Many of the people here would never use the dreaded N-word, but you use these two terms with not a care for how it makes these people feel - I'm obviously not referring to the Taliban, but other Middle Easterners, many of whom surf these boards and are as outraged as you.

Just something to think about.

What you say in private is your own business. But, when you use ignorant, derogatory statements in public you have crossed the line. It also demonstrates a lack of intelligence.

It's not even cool to use terms of that nature in private...they should just be curbed totally...

I don't really see your point. If a Black guy commits some murder do we proclaim "Lets get this great person!" No we don't. This is no different.
 
i agree. i normally don't mind the usage of words like jap and jew because they're shorter, but sandnigger, camel jocky, and beloved patriot are all LONGER than arab. there is NO good reason for this.

Carbo: All we need to do is capture everyone's favorite beloved patriot, UsamaBoy. My contribution to the cause will be the offering of my mother in law. She has the same shape, hide and scent of a camel, and I think we can successfully lure Usama out of hiding.

It's not about being PC, it's about respect. Something you obviously know nothing about.
 
What I find most disturbing about this is the mods apathy towards these terms. Call somebody any number of other names and the mods come down on you like a ton of bricks, but they are letting these terms that are just as offensive stay. Why? It seems as if the mods are applying their personal opinions to this, suggesting a racist attitude from them; an attitude they say they strive to keep this forum free of.
