Camaros do not suck!

I don't get why everyone rags on Camaros for poor build quality, crappy handling, or whatever else they attribute to it.

My friend got a 1986 Camaro and guess what? The seats are really comfy inside, and the interior looks good and doesn't rattle at all. There's no rust on the exterior and the engine is great (though it's only the V6). Driving at highway speeds, you hardly hear the wind at all!

Compare that to my other friend's mom's 1995 Civic that gives me pain in my left ankle whenever I drive it, is loud as hell at highway speeds (almost as bad as my friend's swift that he used to have before the camaro), uncomfortable seats, AND it rattles!! Build quality? LMAO. Of course that Civic will sell for $6000 easy because people are lemmings and run when they see "Honda".

Another friend has a 1992 Civic and I'm not impressed with it at all. What's so good about them?

You can tell that the Camaro was built to LAST, rugged design, RWD, and no plastic! You really think you'll see old Civics around in 20 years from now? Maybe if the driver babies it! I dunno about you, but I like to use my cars to their full potential ;)
Look at it another way.. could you see Mad Max driving a Civic in Road Warrior? ;)

I think when I have the money I'm gonna get an old Camaro.. the car fits me well, nice and roomy inside, it looks good, and they can take abuse.. it's really scary because only a year ago I thought the same as everyone else.. "Honda is god and all American cars are sh!t"

I don't like big ugly old American cars. I'd take a new Camaro or Mustang or Firebird or the like, but I HATE old cars like that,

Like I said in the other thread, I had a 94 and then a 95 (someone hit the 94 and totaled it) and loved both of them. Sure they had some problems, but they were super fun to drive. I never had problems going around corners, as some folks think they only go straight :p

I see a lot more 15+ year old Accords than I see 15+ year old Camaros.

The popular belief that Hondas (and other Japanese makes) need to be "babied" is something that I've never understood. As long as routine maintenance is followed to the letter, you can beat the crap out of the cars and they will still run forever.

That said, I've ridden in a few older Camaros and I've always been impressed with their power and their "fun factor". Still, I've never liked the Camaro. I'm a Blue Oval guy and those Bow Tie cars aren't high on my list. :p

Well, it does seem like they can't take as much abuse, at least the older models. Friend got Accord from his dad, wrecked the engine not long after (although it did have a lot of miles on it). His current Civic runs like crap and it's probably his fault, too ;) He doesn't even do burnouts or stuff like that, he just floors it a lot and shifts at high RPM. You'd think that that in itself wouldn't wreck it but it seems to, thus my impression that they have to be babied to get the miles from them that people brag about.

Well, they're better than the Blue Oval's cars from back then, namely the Tempo ;p

Whatever dude! I believe I'm qualified to talk about this. I just sold my 81' Z28 camaro and it wasn't because it had problems or I didn't like it. I loved that car and still love it.
my camaro

I bought a 96 honda civic 4 door as a replacement. Gas mileage was killing me! The camaro had over 145,000 miles on it when I sold it on the original 350 still going strong. Salt does horrible things to cars too so it needed expensive body work.

man I miss that car

You'll see more Civics on the road in 20 years for two simple reasons:

1) Civics are dead reliable and built to last; you easily see 20+ year old Civics and Accords still romping around
2) Honda sells about 12 times as many Civics as Chevy does Camaros

And I've NEVER been in a Camaro old or new that hasn't squeaked or rattled. Especially around those long doors/windows of the current F-bodies. Windows rattle around in the doors when shut them.

But then again, you WON'T see any new Camaros while you WILL see new Civics. Guess people just didn't care about the Camaro anymore; we know that GM didn't;)

Camaro's blow a big one, my bro had two and they both fell apart on him even though he took great care of them. Both 91's. Look good, run bad.

Two of those cars are cousins to the Camaro, and I find it impossible for the Camaro to suck that much more than a Chevelle. I have a soft spot for the '68 Chevelle soley because it looks nicer than the Camaro, but there isn't much of a margin in performance.

Maybe the new Camaros were plastic POS's that squeaked and rattled, then again most new cars are.

I'm telling you the truth that my friend's doesn't have a single squeak or rattle (that I noticed).. I was a bit surprised actually, considering he didn't pay a lot for it. The sad part is that I don't like a lot of the cars that the american companies put out today.. I'll take a Civic over a Neon or an Accord over a Grand Prix, for example. Both are likely to have the cramped driving conditions either way, so I may as well take the one that will have the better resale value (and quality since I've driven a Neon and know they suck, dunno about the Grand Prix but I've heard a lot of bad about them) and I'm probably not going to beat the sh!t out of a new car.

Meh.. all the car companies are going downhill. See the concept for the Dodge Razor? fugly. Audi TT? fugly. The new Accord is fugly.. Ah, they're all fugly.

It's an old Camaro, isn't it? That's what everybody's raggin on. If you wanna rag on the IROC then specify, we can't have it being clumped with the classic.

The only reason the Chevell was in there was it had the 402 engine.

Add to my list: '64-'65 Olds 442

I don't know why you are trying to convince closed minded people.

I could careless what some of these guys think about Camaros, especially ones who says my friend's uncle's nephew has a Camaro and it's a POS.

I love my 2000 SS and haven't had any problems with it. Don't matter what these clueless peeps thinks.

Hell, I like all types of cars, I had RX7 and 280XZ and had fun with them, and I don't need to put down imports to make myself feel better about my car.

I think you missed my point. I was saying that the only reason I don't like the Camaro is because I'm a Ford fan. I can't find a fault with the car in and of itself. The Chevy 350 is a great engine, I'd be a dope to say otherwise, but I've been brought up a Ford fan. As far as seeing more Accords than Camaros, well I do see more. Doesn't mean I think Camaros are crap.

As for Hondas not taking abuse, I beat the crap out of my Accord. In over four years of my ownership I don't think the car ever shifted at less than 4,000 RPM. Full-throttle starts all the time, I loved the way it sounded at redline. I put 55,000 miles on it (now it's got 217,000) and the engine still runs flawlessly, it doesn't even burn any measurable oil between changes. I did change the oil at 3,000 miles religiously though. I'd have kept the Accord if the typical Japanese metalurgy problems hadn't cropped up. Japanese cars from the middle to late 1980's rusted out badly.
