I guess it will be fast.

A niche car for those with the money but not the sense to choose a Vette 🙂 Even at 580hp, I wouldn't expect it to really be as dynamic as even a GS, let alone a Z06. Expected pricing is somewhere north of $50k. $50k will buy a 2010 Z06 with 6k miles :

😀
With 430 horsepower.
Maybe it can keep up with a 4th gen now?

And 1500 lbs less. And a Z06 is 505HP not 430.
Huh? The 4th gen was a mid to low 13 second car. The SS is a 12.9 consistent car.
With 580hp, larger tires and less weight than the CTS-V, this will out perform any Corvette besides a Z06/ZR1 which run another 15-20k more.
I'm sure he knows that. He was sarcastically pointing out that the linked vehicle was not a Z06.
I'm still pretty meh on the Camaro over the overall shape of the car; I just don't like the way it looks. Of course, I don't have an unbiased opinion since I own a '12 Mustang Shelby GT500.

Even stock Vettes are quick :

Stock Z06 is mad fast when driven like a pro :

I happen to know a little about Vettes. The CTS-V is just as capable as a stock Vette and only slightly slower around a track than a Grand Sport. The ZL1 ups the mark enough that it will take nothing short of a Z06 to take it at a track.
Lets face it, the C6 has had a good run and it's time for a new model. Hopefully the C7 will dominate across the board at GM.
I like the way they look, but I wouldn't want to own one. Every time I see one up close, I wonder why GM didn't include a periscope so the driver can see outside the car.
Those are some fair enough observations, though I think I'd still prefer the Vette over the Camaro, even if I had to start with a stock one. Starting with HUGELY less weight = lots of room for improvements, and many mods for the LS aren't terribly expensive. At the end of the day the Camaro is still a bit bloated, not to the extent of the Challenger, but it's still a hefty vehicle.
Now the Mustang, that's more in the right direction.
Hahaha so true. I actually kind of like the exterior styling, if the visibility was better and it shaved about 300lbs or a little more off, I'd be singing a very different tune in the eternal Mustang vs. Camaro debate. I have to give the V6 Mustang over the Camaro V6, the Mustang GT over the Camaro SS, and probably the GT350 over the ZL1.
But unless it's something like ExDeath's unholy custom terrormobile, I'd still do Vette > Mustang of course 😀
I would go with a Vette as well. For me, the CTS-V adds a lot of praticallity that my Vette lacked. However, the Camaro has horrible visibility, tiny trunk opening and amputee quality rear seats. If it was my call, a LS3 Vette with a blower, Stoptech brakes and big tires would be a good alternative.

Nothing custom about it, its just another dime a dozen factory block Terminator with a blower swap. Don't take anything away from those who do truly custom work from the ground up. 😉 Custom is fabbing your own turbo setup from a pile of pipes and sheet metal and not just buying a ready made kit.
Ah, lol. You're right. Looks like you have to back to '07ish to find a Z06, at which point it's obviously much more used. That's what I get for a quick search of Vette +Z06 lol.
