Calling the microsoft store

Needed a laptop the other day so i called the microsoft store near me to see if it was in stock

me: do you have the asus transformer laptop in stock?
store: let me call the store for you and find out
me: didn't i just call the store?
store: no you've reached sales support
me: oh ok
few minutes later
store: no sorry its out stock, but you can order it over the phone if you'd like
me: i though you were support?
store: we also do sales
me: ok...lets do that
store: do you have a microsoft account
me: no
store: just goto signup.live.com and fill in the form
me: can't you just take my name and address?
store: no you need the account first
me: fine...
few minutes later
me: ok done
store: ok great what is your address... state, zip code?
me: ... ontario canada
store: oh you're in canada? hold on while i change to my canadian login
me thinking... didn't she just call a canadian store to check stock?
store: ok thanks for holding, the laptop you want is 599
me: no its 499
store: you must be looking at the american site
me: no im looking at the canadian site
store: oh you're right, it is 499, would you like microsoft office to go along with your laptop?
me: no
store: oh im sorry the laptop is out of stock
me: *HANGS UP*

Wtf did i just waste 22 minutes for?

LOL they don't seem to have a good handle on how to sell things.

Its an amateur chasing a sale. This is why no company should mix sales & support together. They require different skills its unlikely someone would excel at each skill.

Their support is excellent. I've never had a "welp, there's nothing we can do" from them.

For me, with Apple, it's just: "I can totally fix this!" but it's never fixed, and it's worse than before.

I find that to be worse.
