Hm... I haven't written anything substantial since the birth of my youngest daughter (and even before that I was only a couple chapters in). It couldn't hurt 😛

I'm a good proofreader/editor, and a fair writer. I don't know how much time I could devote to it, but hey...I could just do haikus😛

Haikus could be cool chapter intros 🙂

This is a really cool idea. I have no idea if I'd be able to help, but I totally support the idea. I'm sure we could come up with something good.

Thank you for the replies, and thanks to those who responded to the PMs.

To AgaB and jagec, proofreaders are welcome. It seems a few of us have some ideas stashed away that could use it.

There is no official sign-up list, anyone showing interest in this thread or in PMs will get an invitation to the group.

In the meantime, any comments, suggestions or bumps are appreciated. 🙂

This is a very interesting idea, and I believe it has a lot of potential. Nay-sayers be gone! I'm not much of a writer myself, but a reader?, most definitely! I would love to read what the collective writes, and possibly give constructive criticism/etc. Thumbs up for this great idea, mobobuff!

I'm gonna get sick of saying thank you soon, but until then, thank you!

As for nay-sayers, I'm probably the nayiest of the naymen, but I cannot see how this would be a bad thing. We'll see.

Is this a book where all the chapters are related or not? Fiction or non-fiction?

I got two short stories I can contribute. I also got a novel we can all write together! I'm willing to set the direction of the story by writing the opening chapters and providing the outline. OP, please pm me your email addy. The thing is I get locked out of the forum every now and then because my ip falls within the range commonly banned for spamming.

OP, check my pm

**BUMP!**

I plan to have the group created by this weekend. One interested member has already sent me some non-edited short stories, and I enjoyed them, very promising - good character potential. If a few more members who decide to join also submit anything off-the-bat, I would be very interested and I'm sure other members would be also.

I'd like to restate that you do not have to contribute anything to a central theme or story, whatever writing you have stashed away gathering dust is a precious prize. Haikus or free-form poetry or poetry of any sort is also welcome. In the same light, anything you've been wanting to write about is also welcome. Every bit of input gives latitude to the group.

And while this is for most purposes a collaborative group, intellectual property is not a lost concept - whatever you submit is yours and will be accredited to you as your creation.

Keep the comments coming, and thank you. Please bump this thread if you feel generous enough, as I work most of the day and I cannot.

Thank you,
- Travis

Sounds interesting. I just read Dune, and Mr. Frank Herbert didn't get anything major published until after 40. I am 26 now, I figure if I start writing again soon, and get some breaks, and work hard, I may be able to get something published before I die.

i wanna!

I've got a few things already that I could submit, and I'm always thinking of more stuff to write. This might just be the motivation I need to get it out of my mind and onto the page (or screen). 🙂

Anything you ever create is eternal. Notoriety en masse is just a variable, longevity another. I don't mean to sound so whimsical, but I have to put aside all that has kept me from writing, just as I am asking of you.

Excellent! Your motivation is mine. 🙂

Thanks for the bumps! I've been on a brief hiatus due to work, but the group (Anandtech Writing Collective) has been created and messages have been sent to those interested in joining.

To anyone else who may be interested, please click here.

I've been writing a little something for the last week, and I will post it to the group shortly.

If anyone is having troubles joining or has any questions, feel free to e-mail me, or simply post in this thread, as I would like to keep it alive for a while.
