<< Cooking is something you do when you have a kitchen. No kitchy, no learny to cook. As a human being one thing that is a big part of staying alive is eating. Something that central should demand proficiency at a minimum. If you like to eat, you will probably love to cook. Cooking is also easy. >>

I love to eat delicious food and I HATE cooking along with all the cleaning associated with it.

Make me something high in protein, medium in fat, low in carbohydrate and tastes good.

As I would like my wife to stay home and raise the kids, it would be important to me that if she didn't know how to cook, that she learned how. Eating out all the time isn't all that healthy or reasonable with a family.

<< Though i love to eat outside, it does get expensive. My taste for "home cooked meals" is so strong that I drive 40 miles round trip to my parents place for dinner every night. >>

Wow, that good huh? :) A woman who knows how to cook is a definite bonus but not a requirement.
>>

it helps to have a mom as an award winning chef and taste buds to appreciate them.

I sure as hell can't cook.

Certainly wouldn't expect them too :D Of course, as long as they know how to use a microwave... :)

I think that one person has to be able to cook, at least a little, in a relationship.
I would hate it if I just ate microwaved meals every night.
To me it doesn't matter if it is the husband or the wife who is able to cook, I can cook and I like cooking so I would be perfectly happy marrying someone who couldn't make a boiled egg.

My wife's all paranoid about it. We've been married for 2 years and together for 9. She's getting better, but still isn't up to par with mom. I don't care though. The fact that she cooks for me at all is wonderful! :)

You'll get the hang of it, just takes time. And as I said, she is getting much better though she still thinks she sucks.

<< Really Russ? Cool, what's your specialty?? >>

I would hope so, I owned a restaurant for almost ten years. No real specialty, I can cook just about anything. I make a lasagne that'll weaken your knees and a meatloaf that'll give you the big O.;) (My meatloaf was the number one selling sandwich on my menu, and I had about 30 different sandwiches to choose from).

Ohhh! Sounds yummy!! *Drool* :p

I try to cook, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I have more funny cooking stories than I do cooking success stories I'm afraid, like the time I tried to make french fries and the kitchen ended up drenched in grease. I've even botched jello.

I guess you could say I cook, just not fabulously. It's mediocre. ...

having the ability to cook really is a good thing, if you need to go to McDonalds everyday or make mac and cheese then you go straight to the poor house with crappy food

yes men like women who can cook, and im pretty sure women like men who can cook too

i can't cook worth sh!t, so finding a wife that can cook well is kinda important for me. i really don't feel like a life of tv dinners and going to restaurants.

Married a great cook, but it certainly was only a bonus.

BTW- she went back to work about 3 years ago after not working for 15 years and now I'm getting pretty good at cooking.

O Blond one, I don?t think that would be an issue. My Boss is happily married and him and his wife were making jokes about figuring out how to cook for Christmas dinner... I would care either. But I can cook, so maybe my opinion is biased. :Q

I don't care if she can cook or not. Worked on me.

If I had the need, I'd buy wonderbras just cause of that pic :)

Thanks for the encouragement, gentlemen.

I plan on learning how to cook a little bit. I like to bake more than anything else, but that is usually pretty high-fat stuff, and I'm all about a low-fat diet. At any rate my man will lose weight when he marries me. ;)

I plan on getting lots of good vegetarian/low-fat cookbooks in a year or so. I don't like meat, so that would be the "vegetarian" part. And if my man likes meat and I have to make some then I want it to be as low-fat as possible.

Anyway, thanks. You all are a big help! It's good to hear guys' opinions on these things!
