That's because they're mainstream. People talk a lot about the Halo games too, doesn't make them good.

Honestly, though, I can't think of any better console shooters, but then again I've always felt console shooters have been subpar. Half-Life (and HL2) absolutely blow any and every console shooter out of the water. Luckily, they ended up releasing the Orange Box for consoles so non-PC gamers can see what a truly great and amazing shooter is.

If I was younger, and much more serious about gaming, I'd never buy any FPS's for a console. They're just flat out inferior.

How would you even know what the FPS or resolution is on console versions? I have had zero framerate issues on the PS3, runs smooth as butter.

Eurogamer tested it. There is a significant resolution and frame rate drop with the ps3, although the framerate is still better than virtually any other shooter.

I'm honestly not surprised though. Its not that the PS3 is less capable, its just far different than the 360, and far less flexible. Developers basically have to choose a lead platform, and then porting down to the other system and cutting gfx or performance where necessary to make it run. Some choose the PS3 - FF XIII had a lower resolution on the 360 for instance. Seems like treyarch chose to lead with the 360 - not surprising as the 360 sells more CoD units.

Any time you see a game that looks identical on the 360 and PS3, they're definitely leaving some horsepower on the table and shooting for the lowest common denominator. I'm glad they didnt do that here.

There's one thing about multiplayer that I'm starting to hate and will need to adjust to. I'm finding that when a player hides behind certain objects, his viewpoint is vastly disproportionate than what you're able to see. While you can only barely see the top of an enemy's head poking up above some cover, his viewpoint has him fully looking over the object and able to shoot at you.

For example, the worst I've encountered this is on Summit in the main central building with the server racks. I entered the building from the side that puts you on the upper walkway looking down into the room. An enemy entered the main floor door on the opposite side and we started shooting at each other. He took a couple of hits and ducked behind a server rack up against the wall. I knew he was trapped, so I aimed in and waited for him to come back out on the side. A couple of seconds later, I took two hits from his direction and died. When watching the killcam, he was still behind the server, but could still see me and shoot at me just over the top of the server rack. I couldn't see his head at all, and from where he was shooting, my reticle or scope wasn't covering him, so I should've been able to easily see his head, especially from a higher vantage point.

Another time when this screwed me was on Grid. There's a dumpster next to one of the buildings in the middle of the map. An enemy took cover on the side of it. I could only see the very top of his head, not his eyes, but he still shot and killed me. On the killcam, the top of the dumpster was almost at the bottom of his viewpoint, giving him almost an entire screen of clear view even though 95% of his body was behind cover.

The Summit match was just last night, so if I remember, I'll take a couple of pictures tonight to show what I'm talking about, one from each viewpoint.

This has actually been a problem since COD4. Shortly after COD4 was released someone posted a bunch of comparison screenshots. It's actually pretty alarming.

Since when was Doom a console game? (There may be emulated ports but it wasn't meant for consoles. Try listing some I'm curious (Maybe try some current generation consoles.)

Huh. Did not realise that, fair enough. Still curious about what games he thinks are better that the Cod's All I hear about people going on about are Cod's

It was released on a number of different platforms, including the PS1.

Let's see, a few off the top of my head...

Resistance 1 + 2
Battlefield Bad Company 1 + 2
Killzone 2
Unreal Tournament 3
MAG
Socom

Hell, even that shitty new MoH is better.

Ahhh, MW1 was the only one I played somewhat extensively, so I don't really remember. It sucks though, I guess I need to start trying to use it to my advantage.

Wow those answers surprised me! Resistance was one of the worst games I've played in a long time, Unreal tournament 3 was a disappointment, Battlefield is good. Kilzone looks great but that's about it, I was expecting you to be in the Halo camp.

Medal of Honor was awful by any standards (not as bad as resistance though).

You bullets "come out of your eyes" in the CoD games. No idea why...

After playing for the first night, I am a bit disappointed in the purchase system. And other than the spawns, the game isn't very bad. A lot better than I expected.

there is a fucking 84932840932 page official thread on this game and you felt it was necessary to create your own thread to let everyone know you don't like the game why?

Another thing that's annoying me is my W/L record. I don't really care that much about it as a whole, but it sucks that I've had to quit probably a dozen or more games now because of the party problems. Each game you quit counts as a loss, so my record is completely lopsided towards losses.

On the upside, word is they've found a way to count stats even if someone quits to dashboard or shuts off their console. A few pages back I was all ticked because a host quit when I was having a really good game. I found that match in my Theater (and the other one where the host quit). When the host quit, my team was up and it awarded me the win so I assume it also awarded me my kills.

Take away the incentive to dashboard and maybe these fuckwits will stop doing it 🙂

I still cant get Ghost Pro god damnit. No one but me uses the damn sentry.

Strange, I use it all the time...it's one of the most underrated killstreak rewards in the game.

I heard most dev's do the programming on the 360 simply because it's much easier to work with. Then they simply have to work on a port to the PS3, less effort than programming for it.

I experienced that this morning on Jungle. A guy was hiding behind a rock near the "B" flag and I was near the rope bridge, I actually hit him in the head twice and he fled.

I've noticed you get the "ding" of a headshot even if it's not the killing shot, just any time you hit someone in the head.

It's always awarded you the kills for when a host quits, not sure about the win though.

I'm actually very happy with the purchase system. Instead of having to jump through hoops to get the attachments I want, everything is unlocked and I get to customize right off the bat.

Because it didn't need to be its own thread. Don't take it personally, the mods just like to keep things clean.

It's about Black Ops, everything about Black Ops goes in here. Stop cluttering up the forums with extra unnecessary threads. If you were talking about your likes or dislikes of Hello Kitty Online, then you can create a new thread.
