Hardcore mode is unlocked once you get to around level 15 or 20 (can't remember). I've also been able to set match length in private matches, not sure how you're missing it.

How do you do it in split screen (I don't play online, that's all i'm interested in...

Maybe Treyarch has a guy for snow maps and he's just really good.

I actually like the snow maps a lot, too. I have two classes saved for my Galil, the only difference between them is one has tiger camo for more "colorful" maps, the other with Sibera camo for snow maps. 🙂

It's just in the options. I've only played private matches offline split screen myself, just did it Saturday night. There were 3 of us total, and I specifically remember reducing the match time from 10 minutes down to 5. If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the first options you'll see when you enter a private match lobby and go into the settings for the match. You can adjust all kinds of stuff.

Done. 😛

Yeah!!! :awe:

Oh, I agree. Overall the snow maps are solid.

I...hate...cracked...such...a home...for...camper..wh@&$s!!!

Ooh, I forgot about that one. I don't like it much either.

BTW Peritus, I went to CoD Wiki and checked. I have played Crisis, next time don't say "it's another jungle map," just say "the one with the beach!" 😛

When you go into split screen you don't have those options, unless I'm confused, you can literally just pick the Map and game style.

Yeah, I guess it does have a beach. That's where I always put my SAM, behind the farthest most rock on the beach. The only time anyone ever goes out that far is if they are spawned out there.

Offline split screen has a weapon set customization menu in which everything is unlocked, but no way to customize the game play, such as hardcore mode. Also, you can't play wager modes offline. Is there anyway around this, I don't like playing online.

I noticed second chance is *almost* worthless. Most people seem to empty entire clips into your mitigating second chance. I did get one kill with it last night though, ironically.

I've had some luck with it, but on smaller maps like Nuketown you're right -you're better off with Hacker.

Once people start using claymores and such more often I'll probably switch but right now I'm enjoying Second Chance Pro. When you have teammates who will revive you, you're in for a killer match.

I'm in a COD slump right now.

I mean, my K/D ratio is ~0.9 atm. Anything over 1.0 is a good match for me. I had about 15 games in a row where I was averaging almost 2.0. Now ever since I hit level 49, I've been averaging 0.4.

I'm dying in some of the weirdest ways imaginable, especially from people camping in some of the most obscure parts of the map. Not only that, but I just don't understand this game; I can be shooting someone center of mass (lets say I put twenty bullets in them), they don't die. But, they turn around and put 5-6 bullets in my legs and I die. wtf? Watching killcams just make my blood boil over half the time. Frankly, I don't know why I watch them.

The kill cam usually just pisses me off too, but there are enough idiots who will stay camped in the same spot so i usually watch it when I get killed by a camper for the possibility for easy revenge.

They need to boost the damage of Nova Gas. I realized that the decoys are neigh useless (since they don't sound like gunfire from a typical weapon, and no one pays them any mind), so I switched to Gas. You can chunk it into the middle of a group of enemies and they can sit there for 3 seconds before moving...

I switched away from the decoy after about a dozen matches. At times I would just randomly throw it were I thought an enemy may be, hoping they'd be confused as I ran around the corner, but that just felt stupid after a while since it never happened that way. Then I realized that if I waited until I saw an enemy to throw it, then I'd probably be better off actually shooting than throwing the decoy and wasting time.

I've since switched to flashbangs and have gotten quite a few kills on blinded players.

I got flashbanged for the first time ever this morning, my gosh they boosted the duration. I was blind for at least 6 seconds by the time I got killed.

*shrugs* I seem to be getting plenty of people with the decoy. It's not the sound, it's that so many people just see a dot on the map and run for it. If I set a decoy I usually get 1 person looking for somebody.

but the enemies become pretty useless for those 3 seconds, their screen gets super blurry and disorienting. I dont believe that the nova gas is intended to be a "use to kill" device (although a well placed one can kill), rather it's usefulness is more apparent in directing/preventing enemy movement; which is very helpful in some of the other game modes (domination, CTF, demolition, etc...)

I agree with that guy who made a new Black Ops thread, pretty stupid that it always gets consolidated into one thread.

Anywho...I still haven't started the campaign yet, but plan to beat it over Thanksgiving break. How does the campaign stack up against the MW/MW2 campaigns? Those were sick...and I never finished World at War's campaign.

I've found the same thing. You just have to be smart where you throw it. A good place is usually by a window in a building, people will think that they are shooting out of a window and try to get in behind them...little do they know that there is a claymore by the door or that i'm waiitng for them.

Stop watching killcams. They're not accurate, and they never can be. They're the servers POV, not yours or your opponent. There's always lag. Example: you pumped shots into him, he turns around and kills you. The killcam shows you barely getting off a shot. From his POV, you probably didn't even get a shot off at all, and he saw you before you saw him.

He killed you fair and square. If you can't deal with latency, don't play online. Or at least understand the killcams are not accurate.

Alright, so let's hear everyone's single favorite map along with their single most hated map. I think we've all been able to play it enough by now to know which way we lean on both.

Most Favorite: Grid.
Least Favorite: Summit. I just can not get a feel for this map.

I think I dislike Summit so much because I love to rock out with my M14. Summit is just a bit too chaotic for the semi automatic, but I keep thinking I can kill fast enough with it. Nuketown/firing range I concede to using an SMG.

Oh, I know all that. But at the same time, I'm registering hit after hit on my side, but I die after only a few. Latency probably plays a big role in this, I'm sure. I've been on the other side of the equation at times where everything connects and drops each enemy.

It's just frustrating at time, and I'm sure most can relate.

Favorite: Launch
Hated: WMD

I just can't get my bearings on WMD and I die too often from some little concealed spot on this map.
