Looks like there's another video on YouTube and the 360 itself where they show off a few new things and potentially some more weapons, but there's not enough detail on my iPhone for me to make anything specific out at all.

They showed some more of the create a class, including unlockable facepaint, and the forza-like emblem editor.

The game it self just seems ridiculous. Remote RC car...flamethrowers on your guns...attack dogs?

What?

Last stand again? Fuck I hated that in MW. Was really hoping they would get rid of it.

The alternative is the same damn thing over and over.

As long as it's balanced, it can be a little silly. CoD has never been a true to life military sim.

Holy crap I can't wait for thsi game!!!

I can't wait to shoot some people with an awesome storyline behind it. Bad Company 2 left a bad taste in my mouth.

As I said, beware of the cheesiness factor.

So now we've got:
  • Smiley face aiming reticle.
  • Customizable stickers for your weapons.
  • "Bad Ass" box art with kill marks in weapons and two rifles across back
  • Gears of War-esque exploding crossbow
  • Remote controlled car bomb (cool but kinda cheesy)
  • Inked up "bad ass" commando-type soldiers
  • Spring loaded knife that shoots it's blade off
  • Attack dogs
  • Flame thrower weapon attachment
  • Minigun backpacks
Pretty much all of that can be attributed to "being more l33t!" or whatever, trying to take it a little over the top and be cool. To me it's kinda juvenile though.

Eh, I think it's going to be fun - that's what I'm taking it for.

You gonna stick with 'Tube Fest '09?

I didn't say it wouldn't be fun (well, some of it might not be), I'm saying it's cheesy. I'm glad that Danger Close, Commando, and the Riot Shield are all going away, and I'm not terribly sad to see Marathon no longer offers unlimited sprint. Methinks very few people will use lightweight now.

I'm just glad they took stopping power out. There was never really any choice of perks in that tier, unless you were deliberately trying to handicap yourself. It was impossible to turn down a 40% damage boost, especially with no juggernaut around.

Thank god I am passing on this shit. Every year they just keep adding more idiotic shit to try to stay cool with all the little kids.

Treyarch says "No Beta Planned"
Treyarch said:
Yesterday rumors swirled that Treyarch was readying a Call of Duty: Black Ops beta for Xbox Live and PSN. Today Activision lined up its sniper scope from two clicks away and buried the rumor with a bullet.

Treyarch community man Josh Olin broke the news that Treyarch has no public beta planned and that all testing is being done internally. "We're already doing an internal beta with all sorts of Activision studios – thousands of people are participating in our beta," he told CVG. "That's the only formal beta that we're planning at the moment. There were a lot of misconceptions, confusion, and Google ads. There was some speculation that we'd be launching a public beta tonight – that's not happening. The beta is internal only right now."

Olin justified the move by saying it helps streamline the development process. "Keeping it internal is very helpful for us. It allows us to move a lot faster on our builds, so if we want to change something we can easily push out a new build within the company to anyone who has one of these dev kits," he added.

Now we have to keep our safeties on until November 9. Talk about a party killer! Let's hope Treyarch snuffs out the glitches early and the game doesn't suffer the same bumpy launch as Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

im disappointed that they added the prone dive and it will effect drop shooting, it was one of my favorite things to do in mw2...

Theres alot of other things i dont like but i can deal with it just like i dealt with it in mw2.

Ive been sniping lately in mw2 and i think im going to turn into a full time sniper when black ops comes out.

no more run in gunning and drop shooting.

From what ive heard the dive is in no way an offensive move. It's activated by hitting duck while sprinting, and you can't fire till the animation is complete. It's more of an evasive move to dive around a corner than something you'd use to attack with.

K, I went over the latest video and pulled out a few more details.

Equipment:

You get three items equipped at a time - lethal, tactical and equipment. For instance, a frag, a smoke, and a claymore.

Equipment includes:
Camera Spike (camera view replaces minimap)
C4
Tactical Insert
Jammer (place to scramble enemy radar in its radius)
Motion Sensor (enemies within its radius show up in radar)
Claymore

Weapons:

The name of the rifle I couldnt figure out actually said "classified" - I assume this is because it was an assault rifle that you cant buy until youve reached the right level or satisfied some other requirement - that classified rifle is also definitely the H&K G11, which looks like something from a sci-fi movie.

Shotguns are now a primary rather than a secondary.

The m14 (close cousin of the M1 garand) is definitely semi-auto. This probably indicates that the FN FAL is either burst or full auto in this game, since there probably isnt more than one semi auto.

Killstreaks:

One of the killstreaks where you fly the chopper shows you have both a minigun and rockets - that should be fun.

The redeemer missile type killstreak is like the predator in that can be boosted by pulling LB. RT apparently detonates it on the spot. There is also a fuel meter on screen, so you cant fly it around forever, seems around 30 seconds.

Gametypes:

Under "Find Match" there are three options:
Ante Up (The 4 wager modes we know about)
Weekend Gambler
High Roller

All seem to imply some sort of gambling, so theres definitely more wagering than we're currently being told about. Curiously absent are the "normal" game types, but we know they exist, so its not really clear what that all means. Perhaps those were just disabled when the video was being shot, and these are just different levels of the same modes with higher stakes.

While he's waiting for the wager match to start, there was an option to "double down", which says it raises the buy-in - so you can potentially put more on the table than the standard bet.

Contracts:

Theyre like challenges, but you need to pay for them to start. They rotate over time, it says in a ticker below new contracts will be available in "2h5min43sec".

There are three types, with examples:
Mercenary:
G11 Cruelty - Earn 25 kills with G11 in 40 min of gametime.
G11 Ferocity - Earn 50 kills with G11 in 40 min of gametime.

There were only a few listed here, so it seems like as they rotate certain weapons, attachments and killstreaks will become the "flavor of the hour". Not clear whether everyone has the same contracts active to buy at any given time.

Operations
Demolition Victor - Win 2 games of demolition within 45 min of time alive in game.
Same for TDM, CTF, etc

Specialist (not shown)

These all seem to overlap with "normal" CoD challenges which are confirmed to remain - I definitely saw an unlock that said "Challenge: 10 M16 Kills"

Customization:

You can apparently pick an emblem and a background like MW2, but they dont come with cutesy little sayings anymore.

There are 21 purchaseable face paints.

You can independently choose the reticle type, color and "lens". Lens is NOT like choosing between ACOG, reflex or IR - its not clear at ALL what youre actually changing from the video, but it sounds like you might be able to choose the tint of your lens glass.

Perks are bought with CoD points as well. Pro perks are in the game for sure, and it says "X to view challenge group to declassify", so you may have to do multiple things to unlock the pro perks - unfortunately he didnt click through for details. At one point "Hardline Pro 1: 10 Killstreak" came up, so it might not be as simple as it was in MW2. But he also unlocked a 5 killstreak missle at the same time, so thats kinda confusing there.

The Tier 1 perk determines what your avatar wears, but also still determined by map type (you can scroll through the factions and body camo types):
Lightweight - Basically just a BDU
Scavenger - BDU w/ a satchel/bandolier
Ghost (basically Cold Blooded) - Hooded BDU, similar to the non-ghille sniper from MW2. One type also showed a half ghille suit (just the top), while he held an SMG, even.
Flak Jacket (less explosive damage) - Bomb Squad style armor
Hardline - Helmet and kevlar

You can etch your clan tag into weapons, and place emblems on them.

You can add 10 layers to your "playercard", which may be the replacement for the titles, as lvl1 cards are completely transparent. It could simply just be the pastable emblems though. Each additional layer needs to be purchased. There are 12 pages of 36 emblems with which to customize (400+), each needs to be bought separately of course. They can all be colored, scaled, rotated however you want Forza style, so Im sure some crazy art will come from it, but its not clear if you can choose where to put it on the gun itself.

Other little tidbits:

Level 50 shows a 5 star ring - this may indicate it's the top level, which may make sense since theres so much more focus on the Cod points.

There is no more visual display of your ammo (the little white lines), its just numbers now, like 30/90.

There is also a little ticker at the bottom that says "*Gamertag* unlocked the M1911", so apparently it keeps you up to date on what your friends are unlocking/doing far more specifically than MW2 did.

Theyre really changing a lot around. And all of it looks awesome, IMO. I can't wait.

I think the Tier 1 perks are going to be a tough choice. I'll do scavenger when I'm going claymore class, but after that it's a choice between ghost and hardline. Hardline has an obvious benefit, while ghost has a subtle benefit in the appearance. I think that will depend on the map really.

I pre-ordered the hardened edition today.
