Good to see the show is popular enough to spin off its own hispter affected disdain thread.
Stick with two and half men and Big Bang Theory. Now, that's quality TV!
everybody seems to love this, but bar Big Bang Theory or 2 and a half men I don't watch much primetime shows.
er....with risk of embarrassment and/or "lolwuts", what's this show about? 😀 Only thing I do know it's that it's set in Ulster. 🙂
My brother in law keeps refraining from telling me anything about the show because he wants me to borrow the DVD's from him. I keep telling him I probably won't get into it (based on what I've read/seen it's just not my type of show), but he insists that I'll start watching it and doesn't want to give me any spoilers.
He is REALLY, REALLY into this show, talks about it all the time. He's the type of guy that will tell you how the books were way better and go into extreme detail how it was different. Whenever I'm around though he asks everyone to be quiet so the details won't ruin it for me. It's kinda cool, I feel like I owe it to him to watch now.

I gave up on the books when he split the fourth one (I think?) in two because he didn't have enough pages to get in all the detailed descriptions of lavish meals and young royals screwing that he originally planned. Of course, this resulted in a television contract.
I preferred reading the book to the TV show. Though I will say the entire series (book & TV) is rather long winded. Think of it as a soap opera set in a medieval fantasy setting, with boobs.
I tried the book too a few years ago. But couldn't get far, primarily because of the terrible writing. The complete lack of writing style and vocabulary. Something a mediocre high school student might come up with. It was a huge turn off, quite apart from all the fluff and filler (something that the show has a lot of too)
