As an update.......

The GOP has decided that they are "opposed" to all of the props. Unfortunately, they probably won't spend dime 1 to ACTUALLY oppose it. They have a conflict of interest at hand and they are screwed!!!

Fortunately, the wave is growing. "NO" rallies start this weekend going thru to 'til the election.

The people of California are going to be informed and have had enough.

1A ------> NO
1B ------> NO
1C -----> NO
1D -----> NO
1E -----> NO
1F -----> NO

This will be the beginning of a better California........and heck, with any luck, maybe we can be at the forefront of fixing the madness in the rest of our country!!

Funny you blast Arnold yet he proposed a number of propositions a few years ago that would have severely limited the power of unions to influence government but of course the unions were able to pool their resources and squash those bills.

Special interest has way too much control over our government...it will be our undoing.

the special interests you need to worry about are not the unions.

Desite how bad yousay things are because of the unions, for the lst 25 years the bottom 80% of Americans have received about zero of the economic growth in the nation after inflation - the growth had all gone to the top, and far more to the very top than even the near top. The facts contradict you. The special interests to worry about are at the top.

So do you support these initiatives? And do you feel CA taxes can/should be increased?

Yes, and that special election COULD have been a great one. I was *for* Arnold at the time, but I blame the people and Arnold 50/50 on that election.

He was a little late with his ads. (I believe the unions & special interests had already outspent him by about $100 million when he decided to run his own a week before the election.)

And the people were just too fat, happy & dumb. They thought prosperity was a 45 degree upward angle, forever & ever. :beer::wine::music:

I couldn't believe when they all failed. I was as embarrassed for this state as I've ever been. :eek:

That was the end of Arnold's spine. He has now become a jellyfish and molds himself to the agenda of whoever can bend him over the furthest. Well, ultimately he's gonna get bent over a rail & forced to squeel!!! The legacy of his governorship will be that he left California worse than when he came in.

Make the republicans pony up with increased taxes on the rich. :p

You do realize that in CA, if you make over 47K, you are considered "Rich" and are in to top tax bracket right?

I could not have said it better myself.
It's sad too. I was a big Arnold supporter.

BTW I foresee a push to reduce the needed votes for tax increases to a simple majority. Can you imagine what our taxes would be like now if that had always been the case?

California's budget has increased by about 40% over the past 5 years. How bad were services in 2004 that required such a vast increase in spending?

With it's high taxes and VERY unfriendly business environment, it's now wonder businesses and citizens are leaving in droves. My family and my company will soon join this exodus.

Wow, there is a lot of this talk going around. My wife and I have been also seriously thinking about leaving the state. The company I work for is also reducing operations here in California becuase of the poor business environment, and general lack of state government support.

Back on topic - I also will be voting no on all these props.

At my company, the people that weren't laid off so far this year all took a 15% pay cut. And when shit like this happens, it just pisses the people off even more.

Just got my official mail in ballot today. I just voted NO on everything except 1F which I voted YES on because it limits pay raises for government workers during budget deficit years. This state must be reigned in on spending people are sick of the high taxes and burden put on the tax payers to prop up this massive deficit spending circle jerk called California.

CA can beg the money from the federal government it seems it grows on trees over there.

I know some folks will probably be tempted to vote yes on one or two of these props, but........PLEASE........be sure you're voting "NO" on ALL of them!!!!!

1-F: ELECTED OFFICIALS? SALARIES. PREVENTS PAY INCREASES DURING BUDGET DEFICIT YEARS

This feel-good proposition pretends to freeze legislator?s salaries, but it does nothing of the sort. It pretends to be an incentive for responsible budget reductions, but it only guarantees more tax increases when legislators insist that they have to spend more. It does nothing to cut legislator salaries, nor those of the exploding state bureaucracy. This is a con game, to top off the shell games and slush funds of the other propositions.

Vote NO on all of these statist, bureaucratic games. NO on more borrowing and spending.

Thanks for saving me the time. :beer: :thumbsup: :cool:

What happens if the propositions were to be defeated? Do they go back to the drawing board for the budget?

The idea is that they wouldn't even have enough time. They would be faced with literal bankruptcy.

Thing is, it's actually now the best idea going!!

Once in bankruptcy, the courts will open every union contract folder & be able to tell the unions how the new deals will go. There won't be any more talk of concessions......all the books will be open for the state to see exactly where all of this money is going & be adjusted more in-line with private sector.

Ideally, I'd like to see every single artery of this state's revenue flow reviewed & adjusted to some kind of normalcy, so that it's run like a rational business.

Hardly. I'm a 67 year old REAL native, and I've voted in every state and Federal election since I was 21... before the law was changed to lower the voting age to 18.

Again, thanks for making my decision process so much easier. :beer: :thumbsup: :cool:

I'm laughing at how easily swayed you all were by Arnold. He was a rich, bad actor and decided he wanted to be the governator. He had no political experience, as many pointed out. What in the world made you think he would be a good governor? Why couldn't he run for mayor of LA? That would have been a good test, to see if he could do the job.

The recall of Gray Davis was the low moment in California politics. I was ashamed to be a Californian.

And Arnold's initiatives were all a power grab, anti-union, pro-business, and anti-citizen.
They were pretty much garbage, and the people, for once, saw that.

Maybe you people need to leave California, to make way for the people that are willing to work to make it better for people, instead of for corporations.

You have a state with a bunch of liberal wackos who have no idea how to manage anything and raise taxes when their pet projects need money. CA drives a lot of businesses and talents out of the state with their failed policies.

I love CA. It's undoubtedly one of the few places in the US that's so accepting to pretty much anyone. It sucks to see CA in such a bad shape from years of Democratic legislature's mismanagement.

I'm glad you find it funny.
Gray Davis deserved to be impeached.
While I voted for McClintock, I knew he had no chance. Arnold, however, went in with all the right intentions and the right attitude. If the unions didn't fool everyone into voting against the props in the special elections, we would be in much better shape now. This was the start of Arnold's downfall.

Those of you who claim to be voting for these current props simply because some of us are against them, you are simple minded morons who deserved to get fleeced by your local government.
