California proposal to require condoms in porn

Workplace safety laws are to protect people when job options are limited. If the only job available is a construction site and I need to put food on the table, thank god laws require things like safety hats and reflective jackets otherwise I might be fucked.

Porn is a job like any other. People in that industry deserve the same standards as you and me. Right now there aren't many safety standards in porn, so the actors are totally getting screwed.

facepalm. A porn producer would never forbid condoms. Imagine if they did and an actor got HIV, he'd get the shit sued out of him.

No, what happens is that if the porn star wants a condom, the producer smiles and says 'no problem', shoots the scene, and then the girl can't get work in the industry after that.

So you think all safety standards should just go away? You're choosing to enter into an employment contract, so you can make the choice of turning down that job?

That used to happen a long time ago, and there were a lot of shitty dangerous places to work.

So let's look at your plan...porn producers cannot forbid condom use. So when someone demands it, what happens if they don't get work again (since the producers know they're going to want to use condoms). Can they sue the employers now? How do we ensure that anyone who wants to use a condom can, and isn't penalized for protecting themselves? How do you prove someone's been blackballed for wanting to protect themselves?

Should we allow transport truck drivers to drive 24 hours a day? It's their choice right? We just should not allow employers to forbid stopping/sleeping.

The porn producers are right. Considering there is no shortage of porn coming from everywhere in the world, if just California does this than people will just get their porn elsewhere.
