CAFTA Passes House

It's official, the Dems are NOT Free Traders despite all their rhetoric. Dems in the house almost unanimously voted AGAINST free trade and in favor of Tariffs and government meddling with business.

Luckily, the Repubs are in the majority for a reason, and they had enough votes to Git R Done.

This is all part of "compassionate conservatism." They have compassion for the rich, greedy, and well connected.

I am truly afraid for America with these Republicans in charge....

I don't see how it will survive and rebound from the total destruction by them.

Cafta roll call
Nice to see the entire Republican Ohio delegation save Ney vote YES to more outsourcing and $2 dollar a day labor. I am not giving a flying f*ck if they start complaining about the lost jobs. Your man-god GWB twisted your arms for a big payday for large corporations again and again. Freaking Deborah Pryce was ON CSPAN yesterday saying how proud she was standing with her collegues opposing CAFTA and how she hopes it will fail. WTF that she goes and votes for it. I hope you lose your job!!! c-span

Most of those jobs that went to Mexico because of NAFTA eventually were out sourced even further and went to countries in Asia like China. In the end China wins. So since NAFTA was such a success and has kept the vast waves of unemployed immigrants out of the US I am sure CAFTA will do the same for Central America. IMHO NAFTA + CAFTA = SHAFTA for the American worker. Also take a look at the guest worker measure that was part of CAFTA. It basically allows for visas for unskilled laborers to come here legally.

P.S. On the bright side...<sarcasm>hey at least gays cant marry !</sarcasm> :disgust:

"Why in the world should people stick to the path of democracy if supposedly the most richest, most generous democracy in the world rejects a trade agreement with these countries?" (House W&M Committee Chairman Bill Thomas).

We do what's best for our corporations, not Costa Rica.
Fixed

I forget, who employs people again?

I know, terrible we do what is best for our "corporations".

This is terrible, i think we should put walls up and isolate ourselves. Dont let our companies compete!

Yeah NAFTA was so bad, remember the terrible economy of the late 90s....

I dont think we can survive another period of record job growth, economic growth, record home purchases, income growth, etc., etc.

Magic?

Sort of...The magicians are called democrats.
Some how, armed with a basic knowledge of how the economy works, they're able to fix the bull the republican'ts pull to give their rich buddies $$.

And yet, since b*sh has been in office, there has been nothing even in the league of the amount of growth we had with clinton. Immagine that.
