Caffeine withdrawl is real

Martin

Lifer
Decided not to have any coffee or tea today and as a result, I've had an annoying, low-to-mid-grade headache all day long.

Finally, I decided to give in and get a double espresso. That fixed me right up.

Usually after day 2 I find it hard to sleep for a night or two, then the withdrawal is complete. Then I realize how great life is with caffiene, and go back.

Yeah, it's real (Was there a doubt?). Went from drinking no coffee or tea 2 years ago to drinking coffee or tea every day. Generally, if I drink more than 3 cups of coffee a day for a while, I experience withdrawal headaches if I go a day without drinking anything caffeinated. Now I just drink 2 cups of coffee a day max, and routinely go days or weeks without drinking it at all.

Also, regular drinking has desensitized me to caffeine. It used to be that 1 cup of coffee would make me wired and a little jittery. 2 cups would have me running up walls. Now 2 cups is nothing, though I still don't drink coffee past 5PM if I plan on sleeping at 11PM.

I normally drink ~40oz of coffee a day (have for years), but I have not had any for well over 30 hours and no headache. Of course, I am on painkillers with codeine due to PTK in one eye yesterday, so that might be keeping the ole caffeine headache down. How long do withdraws last? I might just kick the habit while on this crap because my teeth have gotten rather yellow from it over the years.

I've never had a problem with it... I usually drink 3-4 cups of coffee per day, but sometimes I don't feel like making it on the weekend or having an energy drink, and other than taking a little longer to get going, no worries.

I've never really had a problem with it. I usually drink the equivalent of two cans of pop per day as far as caffeine so it isn't a lot. Painkiller w/d is quite a bit worse.

A couple days from my experiences, but I think it can go up to a week though. It's really not that bad.

Caffeine withdrawl is horrible ... for me it usually kicks in about 36-48 hours after my last caffeine ....
If I skip caffeine 1 day, I won't get headaches or pain, but the second day ... holy crap ... worst headache of my life, weak, tired, pathetic ... I become completely useless.

I don't drink as much coffee as I used to, maybe just half a cup a day at work now. But going one day without it and I will probably have a light to medium headache and will need some Excedrin for it. Tea won't cut it.

Caffeine doesn't keep me up anymore.

I drink 2 liters of soda a day (or so) But, when out of town I have gone a few weeks with none and never noticed a headache. I'm glad for how much I of it I consume I'm not dependent on it. Maybe it just effects coffee drinkers *shrug*

That's what I've always thought, too. But that's probably because it doesn't affect me at all. I've done 6 red bulls in a half hour TRYING to stay at least somewhat awake, but was ready for bed. On the other side, I've completely stopped drinking pop for well over a year, and never once had a headache/withdrawl.

I've seen people that have one coffee and are bouncing off the walls, and I actually wish that happened to me. When I'm tired there is no stopping me...it's bed time.

I drink 1 pot + per day. I can quit and my energy's fine, but I get screaming headaches if I don't drink coffee every day.
