Internet with a splitter and some coax cables

That's called illegal you low life.

nik

If the cable company/tech was stupid enough not to trap the video side or said cable company has not implemented that procedure, then they're just stupid for not automatically charging for cable as it is. (says the field tech in a completely unnofficial capacity)

What are you talking about? They do charge you for the video signal anyway.

$45/month for cable modem service with basic cable TV subscription.
$55/month for cable modem service without basic cable TV subscription.

Basic cable TV service - $10/month.

You do the math!

LOL.... I had TV free for about 2 years at my condo, because the builiding manager's brother worked at the TV provider in the area. So after fixing the manager's computer for him, he hooked me up with free TV. Cable company finally did an audit on the building, and put the filter back on, but it was back off about 3 days later....:D

Take that nik.... :p

Where do they put these filters anyways? Is it at your house or in the green boxes on the street?

We're here in Barrie, ON... wayyyyy up in Canada.... you know, down behind Australia??... ;)

In all seriousness.... for what most people on this board would use a connection or (FTP, server etc etc) I don't think most cable companies charge enough for service... we pay about 45 CDN month (Rogers), and on an off week, our FTP chews through maybe 2-5 GB of bandwidth... on a heavy week though, that doubles or triples..
