If the cable company/tech was stupid enough not to trap the video side or said cable company has not implemented that procedure, then they're just stupid for not automatically charging for cable as it is. (says the field tech in a completely unnofficial capacity)

I'm not saying I would do it, because I wouldn't even think about it. All I'm saying is that there exists a way to block the TV signal but allow the data to come through. And if the company is stupid/naive enough not to have a policy in effect to remedy this (either by buying the traps or automatically including the TV charges in with the data), then hey.

They may not deserve it, but it's their own fault. Just my own opinion.

Yeah, you're so "not even thinking about it" that you made the conscious decision to post it publicly.

Reguardless of whether it's blocked or not, if you're not paying for the service and not supposed to have it without paying for it, it's still wrong.

I called the cable company cause some of the channels wernet coming in very clearly on one of our tvs with their box. The repair man had no idea, ran amplifiers, tried new box, everything. Eventually he said f*** it and he just plugged it straight into the wall with an an amplifier and hooked up another tv to the wall. He didn't fix the problem, but I did nothing wrong. The repair man did the install😀

Maybe TimeWarner doesnt care because the people who would just hook up a coax line to the wall would probably be the people who are late with payments or just not paying at all.

My Cable TV used to be blocked.. but one day, one of the cable guy came and unlocked the TV for me without any charges.(That was not the reason he came.. but my Cable Modem signal was off. So he came to fix that.) Would you consider that as an illegal?

there are problems with filters, they can severly impact the speed at which the cable modem can operate, getting techs to install them is another peice of work aswell. just because you "can" doesn't mean you should or that you won't get caught, the monitoring is there for us to see exactly what signals your using if you don't pay for cable, but figure out the filter to block you isn't in place and decide you can rip it off, you will get caught, and prosecuted and I will be the one smiling handing over all the evidence.

LOL I'm the one who turns in a lot of people myself. My neighbor knows I work for the cable company and has been telling me he's going to hook himself up. Fine. I've already got the yellow sheet all written up, just waiting to turn in. 😀
