I would kill.

Seriously. She was right she was targeted. No amount of I hate how annoying or horrible a person is, or even hate in a car if she is revving it at the complex (I would love it as a neighbor) deserves this abuse. But someone going out of their way to get the gel to is would have time to eat through the clear coat before evaporating is doing this because they have a beef with her.

She pissed somebody off. Playing loud music... Maybe she flipped someone off on a nearby road... Doesn't mean she or her car deserved that, but people are assholes these days and in this case it may go both ways.

I had someone kick the door on my G35 a few years back while over at a friend's house. It wasn't the only car either, it looked like they had kicked the doors as they went down the side walk. That was the last time I parked my car on the street at her house.

$70k car in an apartment complex in a low cost of living area?

What I was going to say.

Who, or why would anyone own a car of that cost yet live in an Apartment complex?

Sad story, but you gotta be proactive. Move to a place that has a garage or run the risk of people being jealous and doing dumb things.

Edit: Looks like she is moving to a place with a garage. Smart move.

I would never own a car like that without having a secure garage or lot to store it in at night. It's just such a dick thing to do to somebody's car, but a lot of people are dicks today.

Note from the one image, you can see the vehicle was taking up two spaces (since you can see the width of the lines, and there would be one visible in the foreground if it weren't double parked).

Motive.

Not that it is warranted, but there is little question why it would happen if someone habitually parked like that in that type of place.

Maybe not. Many complexes assign 2 parking spaces per unit.

Its their decision how they use their spaces is it not?

This. Priorities are all out of whack. I belong to a Gen5 Camaro forum and it is full of vandalism stories. Most of them come from apartment complex parking lots.

I don't think this was gel stripper - looks like splashes of brake fluid to me.

Also kind of surprised they didn't hit the roof too. Like the hood, it is CF and would have been ruined like the hood. I *think* the rest can just be repainted, but that hood will need replaced.

I was unaware there is some required rent to car value ratio that needs to be abided to. If she was neglecting her kids to pay for the car, then you would have a point. I don't see any priority issues with someone who draws more enjoyment from a car than the place they live in and spends accordingly. Few things justify the level of vandalism done to her car, but that definitely looks like a targeted attack, not some random act of jealousy. It still could have happened if she had the car parked in the driveway of a middle class suburb.

I'm going by what I've read and most of the vandalism stories on my other forum are from apartment complex parking lots.
The priority is not owning or renting, it is having a safe place to park your $70k car. In a perfect world shit like this would not happen. But it does.

I have a 2012 Camaro convertible. I usually park well away from everything if I am running an errand. I zipped in to the supermarket once, parked and noticed there was a guy sitting in a white Ford pickup to my right, smoking a joint. Probably waiting for his "old lady". He gave my car then me such a look of hate. I thought nothing of it, haters gonna hate. I come out of the store, truck is gone and there is a door ding in my car, stitch of white paint. I'm guessing the guy opened his door into my car on purpose. Only cost me $60 cash to have the dent repair guy pull it. Lucky this time.
My cars sits in my double garage and there is secure underground parking at work.

Sucks for the owner, that's messed up.

x2

I see this all the time. There is a GTR in an apartment complex not too far from my house. Place that only rents.

And if you seen some of the other cars in that parking lot too.....

a brand new 760Li parked next to me in my apt complex in undergrad. I always thought that was hilarious.

This was Irvine, CA though so wasn't terribly surprised.

I don't see any double parking or odd parking in the pics where I can tell that the car is still in the place where it was vandalized.

Check the width of the parking spots. There is no way that that much clear on striped space would be present in the foreground unless the stripe is under the car. Don't use the image in the story, click the first one in the gallery. The car is angled far from the angle of the parking spot lines that are easily visible behind it.

edit: as well as the picture from the rear where you can tell the stripe is under the car. (yes the perspective is odd, but not so odd that a stripe on the other side of the vehicle is going to appear in that exact spot)

Also note the paint stripper and chunks of paint sitting beside the car in the photos. That stuff should be sitting directly ontop of a line. nope. Shes double parked like an asshole. I'd be pissed off at her too if I lived in that apartment complex. Ive lived in apartment complexes, parking is tight and people get VERY annoyed when more than the necessary is used. Not saying she deserved it, but was definitely asking for it.

EDIT: can see a line going directly under the car in one of tail light photos.

Virtually everyone in my building has 2 spots, who the fuck cares how they are used?

whoa whoa whoa. Calm down sunshine. Im not defending the piss-ant that that did this.

I think she parks in one of the curved parking areas on the end which is wider. The curved lot and the lens are making it look like the car is parked crooked, imo.

Look at the lot on Google.

You will also see that crappy parking appears normal there.

People suck. Big. Time.

I've had it happen, not as nice a car. Bought a brand new BMW while stationed in Germany. Didn't even have it two months before some hater keyed it.
