This. Priorities are all out of whack. I belong to a Gen5 Camaro forum and it is full of vandalism stories. Most of them come from apartment complex parking lots.

What if she is a contractor that gets moved around a lot? Why would she buy a house just to have to sell it in a year or two?

Yeah... priorities are clearly what is the problem here.

And, that is just south of Birmingham, AL. A place known for their upstanding citizens... It was likely just some fucking hater, asshat. Jealous they are poor and have to vandalize someone else's shit to feel good about their beater or wannabe donk.

I'll still put my money on double parked.

Still doesn't make it okay. Oh, someone parked like a douche? Let's vandalize their stuff because I am too lazy to walk an extra 20ft in the parking lot!

People are stupid and emotional, sometimes that's all it takes.

It's just easier to be nice and not deal with the shit that being a douche will bring.

I guess if anything pisses you off, it's okay to attack it.

As long as you can somehow justify it, go ahead.

We don't even know who else was parked there earlier.

There could have been some jackass parked all crooked in the next spot, forcing her to park crooked, too. Then the first car leaves.

Now she gets cussed out by asshats for parking crooked...and on top of that, it's now okay to trash her Corvette...

Seriously, no one has claimed anything like that. Lay off the hyperbole and quit making strawmen to attack.

Are you sure? This sounded like that to me. To me, mind you. Maybe not to you. But I did not "invent" anything.

She was asking for her car to be trashed because it was crooked.

I'd be pissed off at her too if I lived in that apartment complex. Ive lived in apartment complexes, parking is tight and people get VERY annoyed when more than the necessary is used. Not saying she deserved it, but was definitely asking for it.

This is why I will sleep on the patio before my car goes ungaraged.

To catch someone doing it would at least warrant getting teeth knocked out with the butt of a G3. Hey they were trying to throw acid in my face... Fear of mutilation and grave bodily harm.

Exactly, I said she was asking for it, NOT that she deserved it. Do you not see the difference?
Parking like that sets people off, and some of those people dont have the same morals/judgement that you or I do. So by parking in that fashion you are attracting negative attention and therefore "asking for it". I never once stated she deserved it.

EDIT: To make it more clear for you Ill reference the Tony Stewart thread. The Kid that got out of his car did NOT deserve to get hit, but he sure was asking for it.

Are you of the same opinion that scantily clad women who are raped were 'asking for it?'

Using a car cover and a single parking space would have probably saved the car.

I so don't care about these stories. Sucks for the person who owned the car but otherwise... meh.

I'll make it clearer for you.

That's a bad thing to say. One can reasonably say the racing incident was unintentional.

No reasonable person would say the vandalism was unintentional.

Shifting blame is a great pastime.

And you still don't know anything about why or how the car was parked, or if another car was parked crooked, making her park crooked.

That's what I should have said to myself and not started the thread.

I could see the blame shift coming a mile away.

I wonder if all the victim-blame is because the owner is a woman. Seriously, do you guys hear yourselves?

I don't think this was random. scorned lover maybe? I hope they're able to find out who did it, fucking with someone's vehicle is about as pussy as it gets.

$70k car in an apartment complex in a low cost of living area?
It happens more often than you think. A lot of people prefer to have something nice to drive vs nice to live in. Just a different priority. She could afford a nicer place, but then maybe could only afford a used Accord or something.

I blame the jealous, poorly educated, deadbeat trash that didn't make anything of themselves so they have to go and destroy what other people worked for.

Not the same situation, but I'm guessing she would have benefited from one of these security systems, nonetheless.

This.

I am sure everyone has been in a hurry before and parked in the 'last spot' even though it was only 3/4 of a spot because someone else was parked over the line. The next closest spot might have been a block away. I try to park away from other cars, but you can' always succeed with that 100% of the time.

No one 'deserves' this or is 'asking for it'.

If some douche parks his Lambo in front of the fire hydrant, he is 'asking' to be towed. Not have his car vandalized. If the fire department has to break his windows to feed a hose through, I will not feel a lot of sympathy for them either (they parked illegally and face the consequences) This case is totally different. Nothing illegal, just parked a little goofy.

I was unaware there is some required rent to car value ratio that needs to be abided to. If she was neglecting her kids to pay for the car, then you would have a point. I don't see any priority issues with someone who draws more enjoyment from a car than the place they live in and spends accordingly. Few things justify the level of vandalism done to her car, but that definitely looks like a targeted attack, not some random act of jealousy. It still could have happened if she had the car parked in the driveway of a middle class suburb.

This.

I never said she deserved it.

Ive seen people get VERY irate over double parking at condo/apartment complexes. I used to have a neighbor who would get into peoples faces over it.

Dont park like a douche if you dont want people to treat you like one. Everyone should know better than to park like a that. There is no excuse to inconvenience others by doing so. If you do, you are asking people to get mad at you.
Some people in this world are irrational, uncontrollable, short-fused, mouth breathing, brainfarts (USFMBBF). Its best not to piss these people off. When it comes to this car I can only assume that it was an irrational, uncontrollable, short-fused, mouth breathing, brainfart who could perform this act. Her car was specifically chosen for this treatment, as the article makes no other reference to other cars with the same damage - so it was targeted. The car just happened to be a convenient/unfortunate means of retaliation for something which the owner did (which may or may not have been something as mundane as double parking).

So again, did she deserve to have her car vandalized? Absolutely not.
Was she asking for it? Quite possibly... if she was actually double parked.

Its the same reason I dont walk through the middle of Chicago with gold chains, gold watch, flashing money everywhere as a small white dude. Ill get robbed/killed instantly.
Do I deserve to? No.
Was I asking for it? You betcha.

I dont think 'deserves' and 'asking for it' are synonymous.

But this is all hypothetical.
... and I want to know what its like to argue like Alkemyst. :D
