C2D: E6600 vs. E6700?

Trying to put together a vista ready system, and decided to go with a C2D. I'm looking at the pricing, and wondering if the 6700 is really worth buying when it's 200.00 more expensive than the 6600. Any input would be appreciated.

I've never actually bothered to OC one of my CPU's before. Not sure if I'd want to or not. What are the max speeds of the two processors OC'ed?

This isn't even a question. If you look at the jump from E6400 to E6600, and then from E6600 to E6700, the answer is quite clear.

Go with the E6600. If you're willing to read up a bit about OCing 3.0GHZ @ 1333MHz FSB should be a no brainer out of that chip. Mine is stable at those settings at stock volts, no sweat.

Just wait 2 months and I beleieve I read that the E6700 will cost less than todays E6600. Of course the E6600 will still be substantially less with its price cuts.

Why worry about current market prices when you're not going to buy for another two months?

So now that the price cuts are upon us it appears that the better price cut is with the E6700 as it is dropping from 509 to 316 (savings of 193) compared to the E6600 308 to 224 (savings of 84). Also rumor has that intel will phase out the E6600 in Q3 (august).

Is it worth it to go with the E6700 vs the E6600.
