You know its sad when a 5000+lbs SUV is faster than your sporty mid-size sedan! :p

The Armada puts its size to good use. A third row seats three, and the middle row is available with either a pair of buckets and a removable center console or a three-body bench, so the big ute can haul at least seven people and possibly eight.

It's extremely roomy inside. The second row can comfortably fit an NBA forward, and the third row, which can accommodate adults, is raised about three inches so those in the back of the bus can see ahead.

Slinging it around the skidpad was not an unpleasant exercise?better than you'd expect for a big fat guy. And it was a surprise how accurately we could place the big rig. Even on confined city streets, we never worried about clipping a curb. The steering is pretty tight, without any slop. The ride is a tad firm but not harsh, and there's surprisingly little body roll.

ACCELERATION (Seconds)
Zero to 30 mph: 2.3
40 mph: 3.6
50 mph: 5.2
60 mph: 7.0
Street start, 5-60 mph: 7.2
Top-gear acceleration, 30-50 mph: 3.7
50-70 mph: 5.1
Standing 1/4-mile: 15.5 sec @ 89 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 112 mph

BRAKING
70-0 mph @ impending lockup: 196 ft

HANDLING
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.73 g
Understeer: minimal moderate excessive

ESTIMATED FUEL ECONOMY
EPA city driving: 14 mpg
EPA highway driving: 20 mpg
C/D-observed: 15 mpg

It does the 1/4 mi in 15.5!! :Q

EDIT: I realize that performance is not the main selling point of this vehicle, but still....its very impressive! I mean this vehicle has three row seating (and according to the article is very spacious) and has Cayenne S acceleration numbers.

Imagine this engine in the Infiniti FX..whoa..FX56..mmmm....un-adulerated power!

If the Pathfinder is that fast, imagine the Titan!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BABY!!!!! :D

MT has a test in this month's issue where the Ram 1500 Hemi did 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and the Silverado SS in 6.6 seconds.

The Titan would smoke 'em both :D

yeah, that's normal. you get a launch--it's almost like cheating.
Rolling starts (5-60) are more like a real-world assesment.

The Titan will need to do a lot more than that to salvage Nissan's crippled truck reputation....

I was just driving my dad's '03 Frontier Crew Cab V6 4x4 Long Bed this morning (transporting stuff to my new house in Raleigh) and it rocks. He says he's been averaging about 21 MPG and it's extremely quiet and capable.

Which engine was in the Silverado? Did they test the 6.0L SS?

Why would you say that?? I dunno about the US, but Nissan has a very good reputation as truck makers in other parts of the world (where there aren't many full-sizes). In Africa, the Mid East, and Australia, Nissan has been selling trucks for over 30 years. From their old Hardbodys (which are still in service today) to their new Patrols and Terrano SUVs which are VERY capable in off-road.

Seems like Nissan can make a burly V8 as well as they do a smooth V6. That's a VERY quick vehicle for that class.

Still looks wacky, though.

The V6 is obviously the preferred engine, the base four is anemic, but I honestly haven't heard anything all that great about the six, particularly as it compares to Nissan's highly lusted VQ engine.
I have not, however, driven one :)

I was referring specifically to the Frontier (SUVs aside), which has been the only Nissan pickup truck available in the US for some time.
The US reviews, reputation and reception have been, while not all out poor, definitely sub-par and on the low end of the light truck market.

Same thing I've read/heard. There's a reason they slapped a supercharger on it. And even then it doesn't match the output of the N/A 4.3L in the GM trucks and is just a smidge higher than the 4.0L that ford puts in their Rangers. And from what I've heard, the S/C'd V6 sucks gas like it was going out of style. And STILL isn't that quick.

Why don't they just drop the VQ in there and be done with it?

Considering it's the only compact crew with a long-bed, it was the ONLY choice for my dad. And it's priced right as well.

Have to check that article out. btw, what configuration Ram 1500 did they test ? (different curb weights) and axle ratio ?

Why do you think the Titan would be faster ? Or are you just kidding ?

Ram 1500 was a short wheelbase regular cab RWD model.

I say the Titan will be faster given it uses the same engine/transmission as the Titan and weighs about 500 lbs less than the Armada along with similar axel ratios.
