I guess they've changed their plans, that'd be a good thing. I for one liked C&C 3 and RA 3, it's not jaw-dropping stuff, but it's decent. For me the best C&C title within the whole franchise including Red Alert has always been and still is Tiberian Sun (plus Firestorm).

Tiberian Dawn was my favorite (and perhaps my favorite game of all time). I couldn't get into Tiberian Sun, it seemed too hokey to me (kind of like RA2, which also was too hokey). The Covert Missions for Tiberian Dawn were a blast as well. I actually liked the C&C 3 campaign, although I never did try multiplayer on that version.

I didn't think I'd be the only one getting the survey, so I deleted the email after doing it. But here's a few of the main points they were questioning about/asking for rankings.

A single unit will as a mobile base containing all items one would need for a stationary base.

Co-op play will be provided.

The game will contain some sort of sustained state, implied this could be single player or multiple player, with no other real details given. multiplayer pay only or something akin to the old TA boneyards?

more enhanced FMV sequences, with an apparent emphasis on them relating to the situation in your game.

skirmish mode with up to 5v5.

There was maybe one or two other items but this were the main items I remember.

Damn, here's me thinking the next C&C was going to be a sequel to Generals/Zero Hr.

That's disappointing, I love/d generals. :(

Ditto.

Me too! A real time strategy game with modern weapons, realistic goals, and a story that didn't wash out the game play. All they had to do is take the formula and improve it, but no!

Then they came out with this Tiberium War and RA 3 crap. Their games are deliberately geared towards 8-16 year olds while the real c&c vets were given the finger. 15 years ago when Tiberium wars came out I was in middle school for christ sakes , so why would I want to pay attention to this crap at my age now?

All this alien weaponry, rpg based story fantasy that makes my ears and eyes bleed, and awful dialogue kills whatever emersion the game has to offer. I was trying to play through RA3 but every 5 minutes I was interrupted by some cheesy dialogue and overly narrated mission statements. "Place square peg in square hole. After we've done this, we can place the round peg in the round hole". And they would interrupt at the most inopportune time, My units were in the heat of battle when my control terminated to see yet another cut scene mission statement that was less than pointless. When my control returned by units were dead! It's worse enough the story sucks even for a 14 year old, they had to force feed it to you all throughout the action. I could swear each mission was 10 minutes of actual game play and 20 minutes of pointless babbling.

Trust me, the last thing this game needs is more FMV's sequences and character dialogue. What they need is a in-depth campaign map, mission selection, battle analysis, and strategy. What they have now are linear missions (6-8 at the most per faction) that seem to accomplish nothing, overly simplistic game play combined with overly complicated micromanagement, and half-baked story telling. When a game becomes a playable movie, it just sucks. Each mission should be orientated about winning a war, and not just about uncovering a story no one believes in anymore. C&C 4 is not going to change that drastically, so we're likely going to end up with another game that has no depth in game play, and offers no control to the player.

I agree Regs, C&C needs moar innovation, more SupCom levels of control in terms of zooming out more, bigger maps, etc.

Something I'd really to see in a spiritual successor of Age of Empires...if one ever comes out. :(

Yep on the more bigger maps. I wish there were more than just 2 maps that held 8 teams.

Red Alert 3 and C&C 3 lost the nice multiplayer feel. All of the levels are too small and too symmetric. Where is the exploring? Battles that end in 20 minutes is fine, but I don't want that to be the only kind of battle. I miss my multi-hour matches from past C&C games!
