I am calling Shenanigans on this. Please show me where a 1-year old GTI or 370z is ~16k. You could find some older 350z's for <20k, but I have not seen any 370z's this low.

even if he was talking about the 25k figure, thats pushing it for a 370z I would think

16K, if you look hard enough, can get you a pretty decent G35

Agree 100%. You could potentially find a bone-stock 370z 2009/2010 with a LOT of miles on it for ~25k, but that would be an extremely unusual find.

There are some really nice G35 coupes for <20k that would fit the bill nicely. Great cars!

the not so fine print:
THIS VEHICLE HAS A SALVAGE TITLE DUE TO FRONT END DAMAGE, THIS VEHICLE DOES RUN. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE FEEL FREE TO GIVE US A CALL...
I think most people don't need to get to the fine print to notice that the car doesn't have a front end. lol

Have you had your sarcasm meter serviced at each recommended mileage interval?

I am reading some great suggestions here. I have always wanted a roadster like a BMW Z4 or a Honda S2000 (my dream car). If I get an S2K, I will have to purchase a second daily / beater for the winter. I live in Chicago, so it would be stored away 6 months of the year.

I was looking into the BMW Z4, and I am seeing some pretty cheap used 03/04 Z4's, around the 13K range!! I didnt know they were that cheap! Is there something I should know about the 03/04 Z4s? Why are they selling so cheap with low miles? (the ones I see are around 40-60k)

My limited knowledge is that Z4s of that era have issues, like suspension springs breaking.

Anyway...

If you're considering a roadster you should look at the NC Miata or a 2004-2005 Mazdaspeed Miata (factory turbocharged) and have some cash left over from the 16k budget. /shameless fanboi plug

You could also get an MR2 Spyder and have cash left over, or a hell of an MR2 with a 2JZ swap.

$16k would get you a hell of a turbo/supercharged/v8 Miata... It all depends on what you want to do with it I suppose.

get a decent ~5k Jeep 4x4, and a toy!

the issue with aging BMW's is going to be cost of maintenance

I've been looking into the S2K today. They seem to go at a pretty fair price althought not in Chicago, I would have to probably drive a bit or maybe fly and drive to get one at a decent price (I wouldnt mind driving it back if the weather is right! :D ) .

I love me some S2000s, I romanticize about trading in my SE-R altima for one but can't justify more car payments and more insurance $.

And the lack of room. That's my problem... It would be nice as a 2nd car
