...fat.

It's been almost a year since I had gave birth via emergency c-section, and I'll probably wean the baby around his first birthday. So, I'm starting to gym shop a bit. I won't join one until New Year's probably, because that's when there are the best prices I think?

Thoughts on purchasing a gym membership? What places offer better deals if you pay for a full year at once? Discounts via affiliations I may not have considered.

Thoughts on various gyms also welcome. At present, the YMCA is at the top of my list because it offers the most for the least, and has childcare should I choose to use it.

Before the baby I was in excellent shape. The pregnancy was difficult on me, as was healing from major surgery like that. Then, I developed SPD for which I see a chiropractor. I seriously look forward to getting my body back.

Since you're mostly a bunch of guys, I'm not really looking for workout advice. I know what I need/want to do in order to return to my previous fitness level.

I'm still hoping to run the marathon I was training for pre-pregnancy (DNR because I'd injured myself).

24 fitness costco deal is hard to beat. $300 for 2 years, prepaid, straight up...comes to about $13/month iirc. Just buy the thing at Costco and bring it in.

Raising a kid would help should help you lose weight. I raised three boys (home dad for about 2-3 years) and just following them around was enough excercise for me :) and it was all free (but tiresome) plus you get to spend time with them.

Just don't eat their leftover coz it will add up

Well, I stay home with him. But he's only 9.5 months old, so we're limited activity-wise right now, and he only naps if he can nap *on* me. That's a lot of sitting. Bleh.

But men don't generally gain a whole lot because a kid arrives either, nor did you have major surgery for its arrival. (clearly I am displeased with that event...but pleased with the resulting healthy and live baby)

I am a martial artist and runner typically. I have to work my way back into both, I can't just dive right in where I left off.

Anywhere near Wake Forest? I know a super nice lady opening a gym near you if that's the case. PM me if you're interested in more info.

Relatively, but not close enough to drive there for workouts. I live outside if Raleigh on the south side. Thanks though.

Might want to start slow, do.some stuff at home first.....unless you have a cheap gym near you.

What i did for scoping gyms, visit the facility during times when you would actually go, take their offer to walk around ans view tge equipment, and then ask if they have a test pass or if you can use their equip before you sign up.

The right gym will scream out to you

Or you can workout at home. :)

Can't do the at home. I used to, but I can't now because of the baby. If I am home and he sees me, he wants mom. Plus, I need to get out of the house and have time to myself. If I'm home and he cries, I want to respond (yay maternal instincts). I don't always, I let sagalore do his share, but still, it's nice to be free of that sometimes.

Starting at a gym is starting slow for me. :)

But, I think you make a good point in saying that the right gym will sort of scream out to me.
