Question:

Everyone says to get the GT560ti video card, will the Corsair CX430v2 be able to power that?

Also ordered the CPU, so within 3-5 days I should have everything and be able to put it together this weekend! woohoo

Not a bad choice on the Gpu :). Like 560 Ti, 6850 are highly OC'able, but of course come at the cost of extra heat and noise.

If it comes to that, yep! I notice it has the heatsink mount like the new processors, so I can assume the heatsinks are upgradeable on those?

I haven't built a computer since the late 90's

Here's what I've received so far:

Antec 300 Case
Corsair CX430V2
Biostar TH67+
8gb G.Skill 1333mhz DDR3

Waiting on Purolator for:
Intel i3-2100 3.1ghz
XFX XXX Radeon HD6850

Then I press the button :)

Generally, it's best to install the CPU while the motherboard is outside the case and not attached. This allows you to make certain that the heatsink is attached properly, which may not be possible if the mobo is already installed. Just a hint.

Good point.. We'll see if I need to :) Thankfully the case does have the large cutout behind the motherboard.

Contemplating getting more fans for the case. 2 front inlet, one side inlet... overkill considering I'm not overclocking?

Do you have just one intake so far? If so, adding one or two would get rid of that negative air pressure. You could also consider moving the top fan to the front for a 2 intake + 1 exhaust setup

It's amazing how empty a build looks without a big GPU. :awe: Good choice on the 6850 though, it will run fine the 430CX.

Also, check your mobo manual to make sure that you've got the memory in the recommended slots for a 2 DIMM setup.

Definitely checked that before I stuck them in :)

Right now the case is only 2 exhaust fans, no intake fan.

Thinking I could take the rear 120mm and mount that on the front, and keep the top 140mm?

No intake fan? You really need to have an intake fan dude :D

I think you'd be best off buying two intake fans. What I'd do is also buy a pair of these, connect the two exhaust fans into one motherboard chassis fan header, and the two intake fans into another. Then set the exhaust fans on silent and the intake fans on normal - this should create a bit of positive pressure inside. (Assuming the mobo BIOS is capable of this)

It also wouldn't hurt to install dust filters on the front fans while you're at it. Dust filters + positive pressure = clean case.

Part of why I fell in love with the Antec 300, it comes with full front filters... But no fans... Comes with exhaust fans, which obviously don't need filters... I'll just order myself 2 front 120mm fans to complete the case :)

It has filters? I didn't expect that. 900 didn't have filters and it was the big brother to the 300

I'll take pics when I get home, it's more of a screen than a filter, but it does the trick!

IIRC, the 900 was the first in the "Hundred" series, and the Three Hundred got some fringe benefits that didn't make it into that one. Kind of like the Mini P180 has more in common with the P182 instead of the P180.

Just realized, it has front filters, but no side filter... So one of the 3 intake fans won't have a filter... :\

Not a bad idea on the dryer sheet... Trying to think of something black that I could use..

I may check around locally for a screen, but I can't justify paying $15 for a filter, heh.
