Buying dip belt

I believe chalk is just chalk wherever you get it. As for the belt... *shrug* That's why I made my thread about lifting belts.

So you would get something like this?

@paul: I don't have any chalk...

yup, the leather ones are more prone to dig into your sides, because they are
a denser material

I know, I was just saying that wherever you buy it, as long as it's chalk for lifting it should be fine. I don't think one chalk is all that much better than another.

I ended up buying APT CRT linked for me months back. Found it through Amazon for $35 shipped at the time. Best $ I've spent on anything exercise related in a long time. You will definitely dig it.

You know I could have sworn I recommended getting a dip belt, and you said you didn't need it for the weight you were using it for 😛

That's the belt I have...I've loaded 70lbs on it without any discomfort...it's a solid belt. Depending on your waist size, you'll probably wrap the chain twice before putting weight on there. (It'll make sense once you put weight on there)

Well you're right, you did 🙂
Now I do need a belt, Monday I'll be doing 20 lb and that cuts me already. Waist is about 37-40. Don't know how to measure it.

BTW, Monday night I will go to DJ Tiesto clubbing...so much for sleep and recovery from lifting and summer class Tuesday 🙂 Or is it an "active recovery" with 4 hours of dance/jumping?
but hey - it is an once-a-year event!

Do you already have a lifting belt? We used to use our own belt and have a chain with clamps on both ends. One end clamps onto the bucket, form a loop to put the weight on and clamp it back onto the chain. It cut down on the rubbing since the belt would be a tight fit anyways. Since we already had the belt, it didn't cost much.

Nope, I don't have a lifting belt already - it will be a long time before I need one, my current lifts are laughable (5 rep work weight in lb: squat 150, dl 180, Press 95, bench 140).

That's not laughable...we all start somewhere my friend. Just keep at it.

Dip belts are fine, now you can smash out weighted chins and pull ups also 😀

Yeah, I was doing bw+70 lbs dips for a while. Now my shoulder is fuxored from something else.

Never used a regular belt though.

I though I typed a reply but it vanished?

Anyway, my hole of a gym does not even have anything to do dips on. So I bought belt for chins/pullups.

Just wanted to say I just ordered the same one you did MegaVovaN. Not sure how much longer my backpack is gonna hold out with the extra weight in it. 😀

i actually want to grab one of these belts too. holding a 30lb dumbell w/my feet for pullups is just becoming too difficult.
