Hi All

I am from Bangalore, India. I am not sure if this is the right place for this post. Anyhow, here goes...

I have a damaged Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard. The Asus authorized service center in Bangalore refused to repair the motherboard as it was out of warranty. Anyhow, I took this "opportunity" to upgrade my system. Now, I have the damaged motherboard, an i7 5820K, 32GB RAM, an AIO cooler and soon a GTX1080 (hopefully, after I upgrade to a new one). I was planning on buying the additional parts and setting up another machine.

Asus support gave me the option for paid repair by sending the board to a location all the way across the country. Just to be sure, I asked for the price of a spare x99 chipset. I am being told that the part would cost upwards of Rs. 25000 (USD 325+) !!! So, I am gonna forget about repairing the mobo!

So, here are the options that I have :

1) Buy another X99 motherboard. But from where!!! Anyone know any place in India (preferably Bangalore) from where I could get an X99 motherboard (used/new) ?
2) Sell the 5820K (if anyone will buy one!). Get everything new except for the RAM, AIO cooler, graphics card.

Any (other) suggestions ?

An option may be to look at the Chinese x99 motherboards. I don't have any personal experience with them, but from what I have heard they are basic, inexpensive, but reliable boards.

Usually no overclocking, etc. Prices seem to go from $80 to $120 (USD).

I have no idea as to the availability in India, but if you can order things off of Aliexpress, you can get them there. Here is a link to a list describing some of the chinese boards, some are x99: https://bestaliproducts.com/top-chinese-motherboard-on-aliexpress/

No drivers or support. If its windows 10, make sure to do the first or second round of updates, it will find them

Doesn't have to be Chinese boards. Aliexpress is overflowing with used Gigabyte boards. That's how I got mine (Z97). Been running almost two years now. You can also find used Asus mobos but they are a bit more expensive.

Can't advise on the sourcing a X99 board in India but $400 USD here gets you into Z690 + 12400f
