Buy Iphone5/SGSIII/GNexus/HTCOX now, or wait?

I have the Galaxy S3, it's a great piece of hardware. I like it more than any iPhone I've used, but I haven't tried the iPhone 5 yet.

I too have the SGS3 and my GF has the ip5 so I get to play with the ip5 a lot. IMO, its just more of the same for the ip5. If you have a 4 or 4s then you pretty much know what to expect from the 5.

Are we sure we can expect the new nexus next month? We havent heard much in terms of rumors or leaks, which seems strange this close to launch. Also a new nexus usually means new Android version, and jellybean has only been out for 3 months...

Rumor says it will be a point release, with no name change. First one since 2.0 and 2.1 were both called Eclair...

Then again Jelly Bean isn't missing much anyway. Improvements to Google Now can be pushed to the Play Store and doesn't even need an OS update.

Google Now isn't just an app you install. If it were, ICS devices could run it with ease. It took weeks before they even hacked it onto ICS and more weeks to get it to run similarly.

People in poor reception area are not so happy with the S3 (this is on verizon). I hear that the GSM version is a bit better here. Since I do not actually own the S3 much less on on both verizon and at&t; take this comment with a grain of salt.

November is so close, I plan on waiting for more info on a new Galaxy Nexus before making a decision. I hope it stays the same size.

Been looking into it a bit more, and based on what I know so far, ive narrowed down my next phone to the following choices

The next nexus > Asus padfone 2 > galaxy nexus > iphone5 >> HTC one x > galaxy s3

Not sure if LG or Motorola even deserve consideration at this point.

There may be framework hooks, but Google has already updated it multiple times via the Google Search app.

for me Next Nexus > HTC One X+ > SGS3 > HTC One X/iPhone 5 > LG > Dog crap > Anything Motorola

this is assuming the next nexus is a quad or A15
Whats so special about the One X+(Tegra3) that you would put it far ahead of the original One X(Krait S4)?

At least I expected something like this:
One X+ > One X > SGS 3
or
SGS3 > One X+ > One X

The Note II is just a round the corner, therefore IMHO it is worth it to wait a couple of weeks to see what the Note II look like.

Because it addresses battery life and storage issues which affect more people than a simple difference between Krait and Quad core Tegra.

Quite honestly both sets of hardware configuration (including the original One X) should be fast enough. While people report the One X+ feeling faster, that's probably mostly the bloat of Sense slowing things down. Remember, Jellybean already flies on the GNex.

The SGS3 just bugs me in terms of aesthetics and the ugly LED notification light. Just seems cheaply made.

I'll be waiting. Have a 4s now, and while i would LOVE to have the larger screen on the ip5 it's just not worth the upgrade. the 5 is everything the 4s SHOULD have been. If i had stayed on the 4, I would probably have gone to the 5.

I'm waiting for wp8 to come out. although i'm pretty worried it'll be heavily buggy :-(

Hoping some nice alternatives come out in the next couple months.

Wow, really? What makes an LED notification light look ugly? They all look exactly the same.

BS.

It's a huge fat bright light that bleeds all under the screen. The same with the notification LEDs.

Now this may be because it's a white phone, but it's not just not elegant at all. Compare this to Motorola's LEDs and HTC's LEDs.

I welcome Samsung's addition of a notification LED (I really would like one on my SGS2), but their implementation wasn't very good IMO.

Huge light? Bleeds under the screen? 😕

It looks exactly like every single LED notification light I've ever had on my phones, and functions the same as well.

Do you have an S3?

No, I'll back up his claim; the notification light on the GS3 sucks. It bleeds under the "edge" of the light area (there's a circular clear section directly over the light, but it clearly bleeds out underneath the pre-defined circle), and it is BRIGHT. That may be well and good during the day, but at nighttime when the phone is charging, you have a blindingly bright light bathing your whole room in a red or blue glow. Who the hell wants that?

White version? My blue sgs3 has no bleeding at all. I love it as it is soft when compared to the POS that is in my razr. The light is a bit bright tho.

This. I have the blue version as well (color shouldn't make a difference) and I've not experienced this bleeding.
