i'm confused...why is a 42" tv at over $5000 a good deal?

i thought maybe this was a "special" tv but i see it going for about $500 at other sites, so now I'm really confused.

also why didn't it add the tax and shipping to the total?

that 5 seems to be the almighty dollar sign.

edit: good work whistleblower!

damn i was trying to get that buy.com deal too but the page never updated to change the price until it was sold out.

I took this funny screenshot of the home page though. On the buy.com main page they have a sidebar of what people on the site are looking at. Almost everyone was looking at that tv except for one that was viewing a book on penis massage or something. I'll have to post the screenshot when I get home.

Curse you.

I kept refreshing, but it was well past 12:01 and the price never changed on neither the Buy.com product page or my cart. It was only until I saw someone in the SD thread say to just go ahead with checkout for the price to show up, but by the time I reached the end of checkout it was sold out.

Best TV deal of the year though. Should be an awesome TV.

I waited on the product page too when I already had it on checkout :(

Where did you get this deal? I don't need another TV but I probably would have still gotten it.

I am perusing all the stores now and don't find anything to spend waste money on. lol

Damn had I known about that deal I would have got it. I wasn't looking to spend any money, but damn that's a hell of a deal and would allow me to bring my smaller TV into my bedroom!

I could have won too. I decided against buying the thing. It's worthless to me since I am going to be moving a lot. I thought about buying it and reselling it, but too much hassle. :/

Was this the $318 42" Plasma you mentioned in another thread and someone called shens? ;)

Do share. This would be a good comparo because the OP also bought a 42" Panasonic :p Is yours LCD or plasma like the OP's?

Panasonic tv-p42g25, plasma. I'll say its through employee pricing and a special BF discounts and I got >50% off.

Just like last year no really good deals unless you want to sit in front of the computer all night or out wait people that have no jobs that have been in line for 20 hours. I'll pass.

I cannot claim to have "won" anything this BF. My wife and I searched through all the local B&M sale ads and found nothing worth buying. I looked through many on-line ads this morning ... and again found nothing. It's a strange feeling not really needing or wanting anything.

Congrats on your new TV ... if you get it. I've heard that certain e-retailers are canceling orders.

I agree 1000% :)

There was really nothing I wanted besides a somewhat-weak desire for an e-paper ebook reader. I already have a tablet PC so that desire has never been able to stick.

As I said earlier, I was in bed about to drift off when I wandered on this deal.

What store was that 42" plasma from? And was that $298.99?

$298.99 @ buy.com flat.

I'd guess like 150 or so.

That's not that bad.

I assume this is a secret santa gift?

ha!

How much would you have gotten back with cashback?

I wished we got deals like that in the UK. For the equivalent 42" plasma TV over here, you would looking to spend £400+ without shipping (i.e. double the price).

Looking at the screen shot M0oG0oGaiPan posted, I noticed that they have (or had) precertified Barnes and Noble Nooks for sale.

Maybe my Googling skills aren't up-to-scratch today since I couldn't find a explanation, but what does 'precertified' mean in this context? I'm guessing they are refurbished items.
