Buttons in cars better than touch screen

However, folks who completely balk at touchscreens (and digital gauges, for that matter) are arguably similar to those who cling to manuals; they're largely arguing for analog familiarity.

This is untrue at least speaking for myself.... true I enjoy shifting gears but I have no problem using (or repairing) nearly any computer-related technology including those with touch-screens or driving a mostly computerized car.

Have to say though though the AT crowd is not likely representative of the average 'murican my age in terms of acceptance of technology.

I tend to find that the more "engineer-y" the crowd I'm hanging out with, the more likely they'll want to be driving a 20 year old manual transmission vehicle with minimal tech. My coworkers in an autonomous systems group at MIT have like a 50 percent manual take ratio and very few newer cars. No tolerance for shiny and tacky new tech that gets dated instantly .. also we build this shit so we know it doesn't work 😛

I suppose that was an overgeneralization; sorry about that. There are certainly going to be folks who enjoy manuals but are also very comfortable with digital. Although I realize that manuals and heavily computerized cars (touchscreens, driving assists) aren't always compatible.

For now self driving is a scam. They've been selling it to customers and it's vapor ware. What's funny is they just raised the price of it. It's amazing how they get away with selling air.
