I get that too, with other games MOH etc.

Think its to do with registers, ram, but I'd like to now as well.

Do you have 1GB or more of RAM? Doom3 uses over 800MB in high quality mode, so Windows must be cleaning up the swap file if you have it set to dynamic. Set the swap file to a static size or get more RAM.

This often happens with me after I play HL2 or Far Cry or Doom 3 and I have 1 gig of ram. I simply restart my computer after gaming to regain the snappier desktop feel.

Interesting, and slightly disturbing? Does this also afflict the P4's? Can the P4 users confirm this happening to them or not?

Have you checked to see that the game has actually closed? Check the task manager and see if it's still running in the background.

It will happen with even 1.25GB of ram after exiting an intense game that was running at the max settings. This is windows swapping files. The solution is to drop the in game settings, or buy more ram.

Um, i only got 512 of ram, n i'm quite sure my comp isn't overheating cuz it's load temp is 38 under 12hr of Prime. Still, I don't get this problem when i'm intensely gaming on HL2, or any other games, and most of those game's quality is on high as well.

That's windows at its best ;)

Happened to me to on my old athlon xp system with 512mb of ram; not on Doom III (dont own it), but on other intensive games for that system.
