I'm supposed to have 12 Mbit ADSL, but I'm getting about 1.1 Mbit practical speed. Of course, I'm in the backwoods part of Japan essentially.

Best broadband in Asia right now is in South Korea, not Japan.

cost of living in japan... well tokyo... is plenty high to offset the wonderful dsl pricing.
