The other morning, I am playing online Chess against a fellow from the UK.
I mention I am from Texas, US, and he says' "Bush country?"
I tell him yes, but I do not support the idiot.
He mentions that G.W. is ruining our support / image throughout the world.
The Eurpeans see us as warmongers and invaders.
G.W. 's private war is not only killing young Americans, it is killing
our PR rating - They think we support the idiot!
How do we restore our good name after G.W. dragged us through
the mud so badly?

Other nations have always had a love/hate relationship with America. Truthfully I think Bush is doing a great job and showing strong leadership worldwide always has a strong negative reaction by other countries which are softer ( IE: more socialist ).

The economy was sliding into recession under Clinton, there was no surplus it was just a 10 year projection IF the economy continued to grow at the same rate which every enonomist said wouldn't happen. The war in Iraq is noble thing and could change the lives of future generations of Iraqi's.

As do I but it is not our place to Force them to comply with our beliefs. If a country such as Iraq wanted more liberty then it is up to the Iraqis to do something about it, not us. Sure we can support them financially but we shouldn't be doing the fighting and dying for their liberty, that should be their duty. I can assure you that if Bush predicated this war just based on the Liberation of the Iraqis he never would have had the overwhelming support for it from the American Public.

That is the most concise version of the anti-liberation-as-a-reason-for-war arguement I've yet heard. Given the above, the only way I can see for justifying the war is if you believe that Bush did have intelligence, that however flawed, was the most up to date and comprehensive available citing SH as having significant stockpiles of WMD.

Might I suggest that the civil uprising/war requried in the above would have been much more likely to occur given resolution of the Israel/Palestine conflict. If you take away the common enemy... After Iraq/Afghanistan this should be the top "war on terror" focus right now.

That's exactly how Bush and his merry band of Neocons sold this Military action to the American Public.Video Clips of a Handful of Iraqi Exiles pleading for the west to Liberate them did not and would not convince the American Public to put our nation in such a Precarious Position.

Like the Iraqi's had a chance in hell of beating Saddam and company, the shites tried to rise up after the first gulf war and because George Bush Sr and General Scwhartzkoft made some dumb decisions they were quickly defeated by Saddams Army.
