Probably gonna save it for right now, my wife and I are looking at buying a house this summer. This will probably be put for moving/housing costs.

Hmmm. Probably pay a student loan payment with it, and I'd like to purchase a 9mm handgun (XD-9 is what I'm looking at) except the nearest gunshop/range that is open to the public is four hours away from me. Bah.

Hookers and blow. Will that help the economy? I'll make sure that whichever pimp/drug dealer I choose pays taxes on his income.

Is it wrong of me to spend the money abroad? I mean, it kinda goes against the reason for the stimulus package.

No. Most of it is going to China anyways. 😀

I filed on Feb 2 and got my refund on Feb 29.

Will I not be getting this little present?

Polls already show less than 20% are going to spend their tax rebates; when Congress approved the rebates, they were operating on the assumption that around 45% would spend it.

So the rebates are already a failure.

BTW, "rebate" is just a fancy term for loan. These "rebates" were not offset with revenue from other sectors; it was entirely funded adding to our national debt. You'll be paying back the "rebate" money with interest.

It'll be a nice boost to my savings account.

By the end of 2008, it won't really make much difference whether you hold your money in a checking or a savings account 😀

I also think it's funny that the government is spending ~$50 million to mail out letters to everyone who qualifies for a rebate to let them know that yes, they will be receiving a rebate this year.

I understand his reason for urging people to spend the $$, but for families that are getting $1000+ , bills are going to be a priority over toys.

The only way you could guarantee the money to be spent is if you got paid in gift cards or something like that, though of course that is just plain silly.

I know my parents are going to pay bills with theirs, what are you planning on doing with yours?

PS. I didn't see this as a Politics thread.

err, paying bills is spending it...
