WASHINGTON - U.S. President George W. Bush took a pre-emptive approach toward unifying Christianity by appointing Donald W. Rumsfeld as Pope and leader of the Earth's approximately one billion Catholics.
There was no response from the Holy See after Bush's unprecedented announcement. Donald Rumsfeld was said to be looking forward to his new post. Rumsfeld invisions a new, dynamic, more streamlined Vatican. More mobile and able to react to developments in hours rather than the centuries it now takes to effect even the most minor change currently in the Church.
More on Rumsfeld's plans as Pope and Bush's incredibly powerful leadership later.
