Raspewtin-

It is well known to anyone who paid attention in high school that the Secrect Service is charged with the life of the President. Bush could not have gotten off that plane if he wanted to. The SS would never allow it. In situations such as yesterday, the SS is (for all intents and purposes) in control and dictates what happens.

Let me ask you this, oh high and mighty one. If there was the (very good) chance that YOUR house or YOUR city was going to be bombed/attacked, would you be anywhere near it? Certainly not. Why do you expect any other human to react differently?

Stop trolling for insults.

And since you brough it up, drop the flag icon; you do not deserve it.

That has been posted 100x(x=5 billion squared), and half the time it was said to be from Bush, the other half Gore.

I think you need to stop getting bullfsckingSHlT off the 'net, and bashing the President for something that was totally made up and you never saw or heard from his mouth with your own ears.

Or, in other words, GO FVCK YOURSELF!

*ahem*

Move along...

Its bullsh!t that he ran anywhere.

Long before any crisis the CIA and a multitude of think tanks establishes actions to be taken based on different scenarios and the President is told that this is "senerio A" and this dictates that you get out of Dodge.

"Certainly not. Why do you expect any other human to react differently?"

if it was my job, heck yes i would and so would most good American presidents.

"And since you brough it up, drop the flag icon; you do not deserve it."

if people don't think like you they aren't American. what a joke. you should drop the flag. Thank god you weren't a founding father.

even if the president was not allowed to get off the plane, he could have tried to support Americans better. either through radio, answering questions, actually being there for his people. btw why wasn't JFK forced into an Air Force bunker during the Cuban missle crisis? (lol.... like Bush wanted to be in Washington)

Umm...

How about....no?

IE, you are wrong, not even close to the truth, you need to be quieted, close your mouth before it gets filled up with a fist, etc.

Plane - Destination = White House - Failed - If it didn't and Bush went back to where you would have liked him to go = Bush Dead - You...happy?

EDIT: BTW, before you go out and try to find phrase/spelling errors, or "You are acting childish" jokes, just go pull your thumb out of your ass and sit down.

Come on, any kid can get a keyboard and pretend their all grown up..

Give him a couple years, maybe he'll mature when he's old enough to die for his country.

I guess your ideal president would, upon learning the first attack, get on-board an F-16 ala 'Independece Day' and then shoot down the second plane.

So, according to your reasoning, we build those underground facilities for the administration people and congress leadership because we are coward!

Huh? WTF are you smoking?:|

Hmmm, I just figured that he would at least act rational and supportive of his country.

I THOUGHT Raspewtin was old enough to understand, correct?

Maybe he's just drunk off his ass. ;)

All those attributes come with years of experience and wisdom, things he has yet to possess..

And taking the name of a child molesting kook(Rasputin) just goes to show he has alot to learn.

there is a balance between one hasty speech, running for cover w/o a word until the evening, and your scenario.

rage187, LordMaul, et al -

please grow up. if you can't respect other people's opinions, it's hypocritical to defend your opinions under the guise of loyalty to a country who has as one of it's primary documents the Bill of Rights. if you can't see that, then it's time to go red, so to speak ;)

I'm done here.

I expected more from you then partisan politics at a time like this. If I ever had any respect for you, it is gone.

The other trolls with ~20 posts are not worth responding to.

My thoughts,

We are at war, giving aid and comfort to the enemy is treason. Sowing false doubts in the minds of the public about our President at a time like this to just make a political point is giving aid to the enemy. You may not like it, you may disagree with it, but that is the way I feel.

I think we need an appropriate term to signify Raspewtin's type. Nef doesn't fit and neither does troll. I favor the term "Thread Terrorist", and we know the sentiments of the American populous toward terrorists at the moment. :D

I think this reply is also fitting:

"No where in your rambling incoherent response did you come close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. We are all dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."

Shut-it-up with the personal attacks, guys. He's not a "child", he's not "retarded", and he's not a "thread terrorist".

This is just a somehwhat out of hand discussion, and it should not get to points like this.

We are at WAR. I'll say it again for those who haven't caught on by now. We are at WAR. This isn't the time to play he said she said with nitpick statements and bash the president. There wasn't anything Mr. Bush could have done that wasn't done. We need to pull together, because in all truth this is far from over. The mastermind of all this is still out there and he has plenty of flunkies left to put into jumbo jets and fling at us. Who's next?

Mr. Lincoln said that a house divided against itself will fall. Don't try to divide the house of freedom.

President Bush did a wonderful address. I feel confindent in him. I would also like to commend Mayor G. of New York for his constant and consistent steadfastness throughout the last two days. His face, voice and speeches have brought a since of security and relief to me as an onlooker.

think of the timeline- reports of an attack reach the president at about 9am EST. He speaks while in FL with the intent to return to DC.

9:43am EST - Reports come in of the Pentagon being hit.

10:10 am EST- reports that an additional airliner crashed, headed to the DC area.

This may or may not be the begning of wide scale terrorist attacks in the United States. The military goes on high alert as federal buildings and basically all of Washington DC are evacuated. AF1 headed north lands in Lousiana where the president again speak to the public.

At this point, it was correct to assume the US is under attack and that we are on a war footing- additional acts of terror may be immiment. Instead of continuing to DC, the president is taken to a secure location where he conferences with other officals. He meets with other officials to try to regain order and establish an investigation.

Remember the pure confusion of those early hours- will there be more attacks, the buildings collapsing, rescue efforts begining, etc.

AF1 leaves Nebraska at 4:30pm EST to return to the capitol- which means the decision was probably made a bit earlier. Basically- 6 hours after Washington DC is attacked, the president returns to the capitol to speak to the nation.

With the rampant confusion and possibility of additional attacks, I applaud the president for deciding to return to the capitol so quickly. The United States was basically at war- the security of the president can not be compromised in any way.

<edit>
Rasputen is entitled to his opionin. The fact that he is wrong, probably having watched too many movies and being a product of Hollywood, is besides the point. He is free to state his opinion- though even if he disagrees with the president IMO we should be united in our support for him. Calling him a coward only divides us as we can see in this thread. America and our way of life depend on our cohesiveness and unity at this time, and the president is the symbol of our country. Just my opinion</edit>
