Very well done....short and to the point. You can really see the anger he is holding back.

Did anyone see the inerview with Schwartzkopf last night? My boss was telling me about it and I would love to know where to see it but I can't find it. In essence Stormin Norman basically said we need to find the bastards that did this and blow them up.

"...different enemy we have ever faced..." or something similar.

That left me thinking.

He looked either very tired... or very pissed. Actually he was probably both. I doubt he slept much last night, and I'd be pissed if something out of my control kept me up all night.

Bush Address From Cabinet Room Meeting

Bush said, in part:

The American people need to know we're facing a different enemy than we have ever faced. This enemy hides in shadows and has no regard for human life. This is an enemy who preys on innocent and unsuspecting people, then runs for cover, but it won't be able to run for cover forever. This is an enemy that tries to hide, but it won't be able to hide forever. This is an enemy that thinks its harbors are safe, but they won't be safe forever. This enemy attacked not just our people but all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world.

The United States of America will use all our resources to conquer this enemy. We will rally the world. We will be patient. We'll be focused, and we will be steadfast in our determination. This battle will take time and resolve, but make no mistake about it, we will win.

I like it.

Are you guys serious? The guy was reading off of the teleprompter... he was faker then fake, i can't believe this guy showed barely any emotion. I'd expect the leader of this country to speak straight from his heart and say what he wants to say, instead he's readin off of cards... the reason why he seemed depressed or 'mad' is because he was reading slowwwwwly... he's not a good reader, ya know

My wife just says she saw some Senator on another channel say "we will get the b#stards" I asked her if he actually said that and she said yes, I think it was Sen Hatch, anyone see this?

Also, I thought I saw the president smirk when he said they think there safe in there harbours, that was pretty nice, kinda like an evil smirk and what is to come ;)

I've listened to everything Bush has said about this. He's saying the right things because what has to be said is obvious, and I don't disagree with his text. However, as a public speaker, I think he speaks the words others write for him. I've never seen anything from him that would convince me he has the vocabulary or the public speaking ability to put that many coherent sentences together in his own words.

Does everyone think that the Presidents of the U.S. actually write their stuff? They have staff available that does this for them....

It's time to stop the Bush bashing - let's support him as he takes care of the b*stards who did this to us...

U.S.A. forever!

C'mon people, nowhere in the Constitution does it say you must be an eloquent speaker to hold the office of the President of the United States of America. Lay off the guy! Know this, his father is not only a former President of the USA, but also was the director of the CIA and the Vice President under Reagan. He's no stranger to Middle Eastern conflict having been in office during the Iran Contra affair and Desert Storm. Colin Powell was one of the most influential and powerful Generals in the Armed Forces during Desert Storm and Dick Cheney was Sec. of Defense at the same time. Between those three men that work at his side daily in some form or fashion, you don't have to be a good speaker or even a great decision maker. Being intelligent does not mean knowing everything or even knowing how to speak well, it means knowing what you can do when and where to find the information you need. Througout history there have been several people who absolutely sucked at public speaking but were great leaders.

and the great leader speaks......
as he has so eloquently before:

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."
"Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child."

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy - but that could change."

"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"The future will be better tomorrow."

"We're going to have the best educated American people in the world."

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a part of Europe."

"Public speaking is very easy."

"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican"

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

"When I have been asked who caused the riots and the killing in LA, my answer has been direct & simple: Who is to blame for the riots? The rioters are to blame. Who is to blame for the killings? The killers are to blame."

"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not having it."

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority."

"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

Truth be told, I don't care what he says or how he says it, but when we eliminate the threat that attacked us yesterday, completely and utterly under his Cabinet and command, I will know exactly what he means when he speaks our actions to the country and those words will forever unify this country and all nations that demand freedom over terrorism. It's also obvious in these forums recently that you don't have to have any sense of respect, courtesy or patriotism to be an American citizen either. I'll take a President that is a poor speaker over an @sshole any day of the week.

Yeah, doesn't matter what he says (well it does to some extent), but as long as he does something, that's all that matters. Action, not words (sometimes, anyway :))

rogue, i agree with you.
however,
i hope that his idiotic statements dont reflect his ability or inability to make good decisions.
i'd like to have more confidence in our president, but he just doesnt exude any sort of confidence or assurance
to make me feel like he'll make the right decision when it comes down to it.

regardless of how Bush misspoke in the past, and regardless of his past entirely, we need to show respect and unity now for america as a whole and be supportive of our president in doing the right thing. This whole event is not about public speaking, its about tracking down the terrorist s and related factions responsible for these horrible acts and punishing them accordingly.

I thought he did it poorly and handled everything like a coward - and b/c he ran into hiding yesterday, terrorism won that day.

On a seperate note, It's interesting to see hatred for those who think differently about this flare up under the bogus flag of patriotism. What a joke and in an insult to what the flag is all about (i.e FREEDOM ) Please don't hide behind patriotism to find fault with others. It's weak and un American, and an insult to every person who died to insure every American's freedom. I do not doubt that those who thought Bush did well are proud American, if you think you are more deserving an American than one who thinks differently, you truly do not grasp what the United States is all about.
