Narmer your thread is ridiculous

If Bush was against Muslims, he wouldnt have pushed for UAE to get port deals ...
He wouldn't have allowed UAE to get advanced fighter aircraft

He wouldn't have had a woman with a headscarf give a speech to a shocked republican crowd at the republician national convention
He wouldn't meet with religious leaders (Muslims) to get some input

He wouldn't have constantly after 9/11 called Muslims peaceful and loving. He could have made measures to deport 50% of the Muslims in the nation.

I dont like Bush at all, no sir. I dont think he hates anyone however.

Was it me or Bush that used the word "crusade" first?

show me his conversation.

The conversation right after 9/11 when he used the word crusade? Here's what I got when I googled it.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2001/0919/p12s2-woeu.html

The title of your thread says that Bush is on a crusade against muslims, the link that you provided shows Bush saying that he is on a crusade against terrorism.

It's not what he says but what he does. This guy is addicted to war, but he has a particular affinity for wars against Muslims. Let's not forget when he sent US Marines to the Phillipines to stop another Islamic uprising in 2002. How come he didn't send troops to Congo to stop a war that killed 3,000,000 (that's MILLION) people?

Because we can't send troops to every country where bad things are happening, we are only going to send troops somewhere when it would have some effect on us. I thought that was common sense.

The President said crusade and quickly retracted. However, within the past 5 years, his love of war against islamic terrorism has borned his original statement out. How are they contradictory? If anything, it was a Freudian slip.

All this begs the question: Who will America turn their anger towards when there's another massive terror attack?
The state sponsors of the mentioned attack should be eradicated. My anger would turn to all those who stand in our way.
Any terrorist attack against the U.S will probably not be a state sponsored attack.

Al Qaeda is gone. Just a bunch of idiots now in different countries.
Al Qaeda barely existed in the past. It was and is a very small group of Fund-A-Mentals that were considered outcasts and too radical by other Islamist groups. No one but bin Laden and al-Zawahiri and their tight-knit group were interested in attacking America.

Now, in Somalia, the Buscho Admin are cozying up with the warlords who were largely responsible for the "Blackhawk Down" incident.

I have paid much attention to these events as i have family and a spouse currently in Ethiopia.....So i may be biased.

Some background

-Ethiopia is over 40% Muslim for the record.
-Ethiopia and Somalia do NOT need war at this time. Both countries are weak and a major part of Somalia is trying to deal with a natural disaster. Ethiopia has just overcome natural disasters as well.
-Ethiopia is the 4th poorest country on the planet and im sure Somalia is less that 3 slots away - give or take. They need to spend the money building up their infrastructure instead of war. Ethiopia needs to learn with its wasting of money on fighting Eritrea for 20+years.
-Somali has not had a govt for over 15 year and the Union of Islamic courts (UIC) DID defeat the warlords and bring stability to the country UNDER their control...And the capital. And they did it VERY FAST and were VERY EFFECTIVE. So this is something they can do, bring stability.
-The U.I.C. does want to bring a strict interpretation of Sharia law to Somalia
. The have already taken steps like banning the popular stimulant Khat (That people have been chewing for 400 of years). They also banned the watching of soccer, one person died over it. Also calling for death to folks that don't pray their 5 times a day. etc etc etc. Although BUSH says that the UIC have ties to alqueda it seems highly unlikely. We probably have ZERO evidence of this. Bush may be confusing the history of Somalia with Sudan.

The issue.

The main issue is that the UIC has setup shop successfully in Mogadishu and wants to also take control for the struggling interim government. The interim government wants a secular state and NOT an Islamic one. Ethiopia is backing the Interim government. Eritrea, Ethiopia's enemy to the north (who still has issues over border demarcation in the war that ended fairly recent - 2000 ) is supporting the UIC with weapons. Both Ethiopia and Eritrea have soldiers in Somalia supporting either side.
The latest, and even bigger problem and what really cannot be ignored by Ethiopia is the UIC speaking of 'bringing their Somalian brothers back into Somalia' in effect EXPANDING Somalia to include regions of Ethiopia and Kenya where ethnic Somalians live. See.....Now that UIC is speaking of a land grab and taking parts of Ethiopia. (Ogaden region, if you look at a map of Ethiopia/Somalia, UIC wants to cut off the entire horn) Ethiopia has also gone to war over this and has been an issue since 1960's. UIC would be breaking a treaty signed in the late 80's by making such a move.
The icing on the cake would be when the UIC declared "Jihad" on Ethiopia, using islam as their tool and the people of Somalia as tools as they attempt to change the scope of the entire issue. There are also Ethnic issues between Ethio/Somali that are beyond the scope of the thread.

In a conventional war UIC would get their assses handed to them. OTOH UIC has women fighters fresh of the streets and also child recruits that are 13,14,15 etc.
Well the wost can happen in 2 days seeing that UIC has given Ethiopia 7 days - 5 days ago. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbar...sk_somali_res&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1</a>">Ethiopia also is telling some Somalis to come to their side of the border.</a>

This could and probably will destabilize the entire horn of Africa. Ethiopia is Bush's ally in the war on terror. Of course the west will back Ethiopia. The west doesn't want to see an Islamic State (at least a NEW one) regardless of how successful it is. And in any case the whole "Jihad against Ethiopia" is bogus - In 615 Muhammed's wife and cousin sought refuge at Axum (Ethiopia) with a number of his followers under the protection of Negus Armah. The Prophet himself instructed his followers to respect and protect Ethiopians.

edit: cherry on the icing: Both Eritrea and UIC have been training/supplying Ethiopian rebel factions within Ethiopia and across the border.

You can respond with your P.C. diatribe or bleeding-heart, 20th century mantra about protecting civilians, but the truth throughout history is that civilians have been legitimately targeted because they are the only ones legitimately capable of bringing down a government. A civilian would have real chutzpah if they elect a government then complain to the enemy when they (the enemy) attacks them. If anything, they should complain to their government for not protecting. NO ONE is innocent in warfare.

Funny, I tought you had a problem with how Israel and the rest of the world responded to the result of the democratic election of Hamas to run the Authority.
This could also be extended to recent conflict in Lebanon, even though Hezbollah, wasn't exactly elected, they still run the show.

You are right. However, my main criticism of Israel is out of concern for her. She's playing a dangerous game with very dangerous people and is bound to lose should she continue to play from a position of what she thinks is strength. As Thomas Friedman said this morning on Meet the Press (you may be able to find the video on NBC's website), the whole Middle East is a freakshow. Jews have suffered a lot over the millenia and the bit of land they have now can be gone in a nuclear flash should they continue to treat their neighbors the same way they were treated and get a savage response from an increasingly hostile neighborhood.

I can't believe I'm defending President Bush, but he strikes me as one of the people who DOES understand that crusades against Muslims is a bad idea. He has made it clear on several occasions that he does not view our war against terrorism as a war against Islam, that our best chance of defeating the extremists is to work with the moderates, and I believe his policies do a good job of reflecting this. In fact, he "gets it" a hell of a lot more than a lot of his supporters, who seem to think the ideal solution to 19 Muslims flying planes into buildings is to declare war against all 1.2 billion people practicing that faith.

quoted for posterities sake

First the Muslims tried to take over and start a civil war in Somalia. Then they blew up our embassies in Africa. Then they blew up the USS Cole, then they attacked the world Trade Center (The first time) Then they destroyed the world trade center, then they blew up trains in Spain, then they turned over cars and set them on fire in France, they killed people in Bali, they kidnapped people and held them for ransom in the phillippines, and tried to raise havoc as much as possible, they tried to kill all the Christians in the Darfur region, then they stockpiled weapons in Lebanon, attacked Isreal with rockets, and now the Hezbolah are trying to take over the government of Lebanon with the help of Iran, while Iran is supplying them and attacking the people in Iraq, and in their spare time Iranians are trying to make a nuclear weapon, so we can be forced to start Nuclear Winter in Tehran.

You can't be serious with those statements. The first one is utterly stupid considering over 98% of Somalis are Muslims.

See my avitar. If putting down the brainless Twit In Chief makes one a parrot, then over 70% of Americans are parrots. It could be a good time to get into the cracker and bird seed business. 😎

It's taken far too long for enough chickenhawks to grow some more colorful feathers and learn to speak, but with every passing day, those who still haven't figured out that Bush and his henchmen are lying criminals grow closer to extinction, somewhat like another bird... the dodo. 😛

Eritrea has been a thorn in Ethioppia's side for quite a long time.
If you are Ethiopian, I don't think you have to worry too much since the Prophet Muhammed was granted sanctuary in Ethiopia during his exile from Mecca. Because of that, the Prophet told his followers to respect and always be at peace with the people of Ethiopia. Therefore, there won't be any worldwide movement against Ethiopian Christians, unlike what is going on against European and American Christians.

EDIT: Outside of Saudi Arabia and Jerusalem, Ethiopia holds a special place in the heart of the faithful. It should also for Jews considering it is believed that the Ark of the Covenant resided at Elephantine (Sudan) before moving to Lake Tana and (eventually?) Axum.
