No, he didn't call "one of his thugs off". One of his SS agents was not allowed to follow the President inside. Our President noticed and went back to retrieve him. It was a classy move. He could have just left the guy there or not even paid attention to it - but no, he stopped and went back to retrieve one of the men.

 Wow...just...wow.

You guys are just pulling this stuff out of thin air nowadays while you wait for the ever-delayed flood of good news to arrive from Bush's first term.

What would you have said if he'd have called one of his Secret Service agents an asshole?
I would have got my panties in a Wad and posted about it just like some of the ninnies did when Kerry called his SS an asshole after running into him on a ski slope

Why would you point out this one instance of class when there are so many others instances of absolute disgust? Wow, he did a nice thing for once.. let's let give him 3 terms.

I am with you. That is exactly the reaction I had when I saw the photo / article.

Would everyone do this? I don't think so. There are many men who are just plain 'wiennies'. Our President may be many things - but that he is not.

Wow. It's cogent character analysis likes this that reminds me why this country is in the crapper.
Who knew you red staters were so easily impressed!

He's a man of the people! (Who comes from a rich CT family and went to Yale.)
He's a manly man! (Who used his connections to hide in the National Guard.)
He's a man with moral values! (Except when he was doing lines of coke and getting a DUI.)

Wow.

I was actually very impressed when I first read conjur's link in this thread.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.

Abandoning the other three, Bush walked over to the agents, reached through the dispute and pulled his agent from the scrum.
From here.

That account made it seem like the secret service agent was being physically attacked from a few directions and Bush went over and physically extricated him from a brawl.

These pictures make it seem like the agent was just being blocked and the President just talked the guards off of him

Still, it's a plus rather than a minus for the President...just not a very big one

Dudes loyal to those who are loyal to him. I would expect the Dub to stick by his SS men. I bet he is very popular with those who protect him, kind of a good thing to be since they are the ones who are suppose to take a bullet for him.

I think Nixon helped an old lady across the street once.

We need more like him!

Wait, we have one right now.

it was the right thing to do and noble. but to this President, Loyalty is the most important thing and he knows it works both ways.

Yeah, had Kerry been elected, he probably would have called the SS agent a son of a bitch for being slowed down & holding him up: From Snopes...

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/cussword.asp">Claim: Senator John Kerry referred to a Secret Service agent as a "son of a bitch."

Status: True. </a>

Bush is a bad ass, and put you in your place. Like some little 2nd rate guard is going to tell THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES what to do, or not let his right hand man inside. My ass.

OK, good for Bush.

I am not sure why this even warrants a mention in the news.

"Bush picks up cell phone and reports a motorist with a flat tire" would be as significant, and classy.

At least wait for the guy to do something positive and newsworthy.

That should keep his name out of the papers for the next for years :p
