it takes a big man to admit his mistakes in a tragedy big as this one is. and i think he made some. now only if gov blanco and mayor nagin would come clean, we could put this behind us and get on with the big job that has yet to be done. it is a shame that the news media does not show the shelters in baton rouge and surronding areas that are caring for these people. 240,000 in baton rouge alone. and see the donations comming in from the citizens. it is hard to beleive what the people in America are doing to help these people.
of course it is better tv to beat up on Bush. anybody who gets his info from tv and is not down here to see the good the fed, state and local government are doing, should not be critical of what we are doing. in other words, shut the fu*k up.

He "took" responsibility for the Federal governments mistakes not his own.

He has yet to apologize for having such a disdain for the Office of the President and the American people that he couldn't even be bothered with returning to DC and recalling the VP and Cabinet in anticipation of Hurricane Katrina. If he dislikes the job of President as much as he has shown then perhaps hge should just quit!

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- President Bush on Tuesday said he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in responding to Hurricane Katrina.

So, are you liberals happy? Breaking out the champagne? Because the destruction of Bush is all you care about, more so than the Katrina victims.

You are an idiot, the reason "liberals" are upset at Bush is because of the fact that he didn't care for the victims. I personally do care about the victims and I am a liberal. I have contributed over $1000 between myself and my wife. I am also planning on going down to the area in a couple weeks to help in the relief effort, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??? You are right in saying that I want to see the destruction of Bush, only because I am trying to help the victims, WHAT DID HE DO??? Think next time before you write such typical conservative nonsense.

Why did you expect him to go in to Louisiana with troops to restore order before being allowed? Do you really want to allow the United States President to have the authority to go in with troops when the local government is still functioning?

Why do people such as yourself keep blaming the President for the failures of the Governor? Is it because the Governor is a Democrat and the President is a Republican?

August 28, 2005, request for help but not troops
Remember, she refused troops unless she had full control of them. Yeah, right.

September2, 2005, request for troops
My understanding is that she finally asked for troops six days after they were offered and three days after the Hurricane hit the coast. Her formal request came four days after the Hurricane hit the coast.

I find what is missing from the following VERY telling.
Like Bush, an admission of fault by Blanco

What is missing is where she admits that she failed to call for support the military.

Now, I'm very happy that you are going to go and provide actual help. Unfortunately all we could do was support with a lot of money and several boxes of "stuff." It is good that you are providing physical support, as I have done when I was younger. Given your question about what others are doing.... is there any reason you didn't go in when you would have been shot at and when the people needed help the most? What was your reasoning for wanting others to go in when they were being shot at without protection?

"Give us everything you've got"

Also, Sept. 1 she requested an add'l 40,000.

Also,
http://www.marylandweather.com/news/wea...ne/bal-te.guard02sep02,1,2208993.story
On Tuesday, Louisiana - which has several thousand National Guard troops deployed in Iraq - had about 65 percent of its Guard force available, roughly 6,500 soldiers and airmen. About 3,800 of them were called to state active duty by Blanco, providing debris removal, security, food distribution and law enforcement support. As of yesterday, another 2,000 Louisiana Guard troops were on hurricane relief duty.

Cool, CNN says she requested them on September 1 but the Governor says she requested them on September 2. As you said in an earlier thread, the CNN report lacks substance.

Thanks for the link to where the Governor called her National guard to active duty on August 30. Please explain why she delayed calling her own gaurd to active duty. Presumably this is Bush's fault as well. right? This confirms her three day delay to send in any protection.

Thanks again for supporting the evidence. It will be hard to determine all the facts until the stories quit changing and then it will be impossible to determine the true facts.

No, she wrote a letter to the Pres. on Sept. 2 saying she'd requested troops.

As for the Nat'l Guard, not all of the members were currently active duty...that's my understanding. On Aug. 30, she apparently mobilized the rest once she knew the severity of the flooding.
